Now that I reread it, it is actually totally fine. I think I was just tired after having just woken up. So, ignore me, lol. Except for that typo.

When you say Amara's comments feel rough, do you mean that they felt poorly executed, or excessively mean? And regarding potential apprehensive internal dialogue, do you mean more insight into what Amara's thinking, and she she's acting this rudely?

(Sorry, stupid mobile formatting doesn't allow for new paragraphs). I did catch one typo in Tessa's first paragraph: "She also grabbed her switchblade ***form*** her nightstand; completely black" I'm assuming that's supposed to be "from," not form.

I liked the chapter, and I expected to discover that Naomi had bound or tried to banish Amara to some other realm. I do agree that some of Amara's snide remarks feel a little bit rough; I think a little more internal dialog about being apprehensive would polish it put a bit better, but then again I'm a horrible author who has a hard time conveying what I feel/think into writing so I'm probably not the best judge.

I like the pacing in this one. It feels like you brought us into the scenes as if we were standing there witnessing it ourselves.and nothing felt rushed. I also felt some very subtle.hints.of attraction which given everything developing a Angel Demon scene may be inevitable, if.anything for survival purposes.

Ahhhh gotcha gotcha. I'm not sure that I want Amara to be more negative, but I'll take another pass to see how I feel about her being slightly more consistent. Something I plan on clarifying later is that Amara is being somewhat combative on purpose. In her mind, Vee has drawn a line and said they can't be friends, so Amara is trying to embrace a sort of "frenemies" vibe because she thinks that's what Vee wants. This was my attempt to show her wrestling with how that behavior manifests.

1) I can't point to a moment where Amara feels negative to an unwarranted degree. I mostly put that in my comment because it felt bad to say that Amara should just be more negative. It makes sense that Amara would try many angles of attack at Vee, including being all saccharine and horned up. 2) To be clear, the particulars of the lockpicking line aren't a priority to me. I wrote about it so much because I was being pedantic and because it was vaguely amusing to write so much about such a small line. The line as you have it, and I promise that I mean this as a compliment, does a great job of just being there. It provides exactly the right amount of drama and insight into Tessa's past, which is to say that it provides very little, because it's a small line in a much larger scene. There's no way, even with the increased engagement on Chapter 26, that anyone besides me will have any problem with this one line.

I definitely see what you mean about Amara's temperament. In my mind, Amara being horny and playful and times was just another way to kinda dig at Vee, but your interpretation makes a lot of sense. Do you have any specific examples of Amara being overly negative that stick out? Also, regarding the lockpicking, I'll admit I know very little about the specifics. I was partially trying to keep her skillset consistent, and I like the 'puzzle' aspect that comes with the craft. Would this feel more consistent if she thought to herself something along the lines of "she could easily do this an easier way, but enjoyed the challenge"?

It's good to see that you're having success shifting out of finale mode! I have no problems with the pacing of this chapter, and I'm sure non-side-story-readers will appreciate taking a ride behind Tessa's eyes for the first time. The last scene, with Vee and Amara talking and eating, is good. It's obvious that Amara has gone from "I need to make this up to Vee" to "It's Vee's fault that we aren't talking," while still making an effort to bridge their divide. With that said, Amara does feel a little all over the place in the scene. She's bitter, she's bitter again, she's horny, she's sarcastic, she brags about doing the sex with Tessa, she's nervous, she's neutral, she's playful, she makes small talk, she lashes out. For the most part, I'm on board. Amara and Vee have a very complicated relationship, and Amara certainly doesn't need to pick just one emotion and stick with it, especially when Vee says something hurtful. However, I think the scene may work better by removing or reworking one moment where Amara is overly cutesy (in particular, the one where she stuck her tongue out) and maybe one where she is overly negative (I honestly like all of the ones where Amara distrusts Vee, I'm such a good person). Unrelated topic: I did not see that ending twist coming. I thought for sure Amara had unlocked another aspect of her Dreamwalking power. I am, as always, all about the dramatic and entirely platonic dynamic of Vee and Amara stuck in close proximity, and I eagerly look forward to all of their one hundred percent hetero exploits in Purgatory! Also in Purgatory is these grammatical errors I found: [. . . Tessa was sad to see that partners were both in classes already.] Don't those partners know that they belong to Tessa? [. . . let nature take its course, but not it seems like having a cover story . . . ] Now it seems. I typed out a lot of potential jokes and none of them worked. Darn it. [Lockpicking was one of the first things she’d taught herself, it was just a matter of messing with the tumblers, using the magic to feel how they moved.] For a person with telekinesis, there's no need to mess with the tumblers (or pins) of most locks. The overwhelming majority of locks have some kind of catch or shear that prevents the locky parts from moving, but those mechanisms can move independently from the pins and cylinder, and can therefore be defeated by moving those catches or shears out of the way. This helpful lockpicking message has been brought to you by the Association of Why Do I Know All Of This! Please feel free to totally ignore this message, I just hate to think that Tessa lacks knowledge on the easiest ways to pick locks with magic. [Edit: only after I typed out too much lock trivia and posted it did I realize that Tessa could just turn the latch on the doorknob / lock on the inside of Amara's apartment. It turns out that I made it too complicated, just like I made fun of Tessa for. Luckily I have learned absolutely nothing from this experience and will certainly do it again.]
