In my head, I've been pronouncing it with a hard Q as in "Khan".

I re-read the ending again, and I teared up again just like the first time. There's a question I have about Vee's (I'm going to still call her Vee, I hope she doesn't mind) name: how should I pronounce it? Is there even a correct pronunciation, or should each of us have our own pronunciations since this story hasn't officially been read aloud yet?

If we're doing theories, I'm going to toss out Amara being half angel or fallen angel. Strange resistance to enochian, wings the same size as angel wings, the same desire to fly that Vee apparently has, and generally being a better person than any other demon we've met? Not to mention the summoning circle hurting her, draining her power, and not restraining her at all, and the head demon asking *what* she is. Not recognizing her as a demon. That's a lot of connections and strange circumstances.

Yep, imo odds are that Amara and Vee will be full-on cuddling by the time either of them wake up. Likely Vee will start to wake, noticing how warm she is, how comfy and cozy it is ... then realize that Amara has her wrapped up from behind ... possibly with a wing wrapped around her like a blanket, and her tail coiled around either her leg or waist. Possibly have Amara grabbing some boob for added leverage and closeness, because succubus, though doubtful anything actually sexual to it. And from there it'll be up to Vee to either freak out or ... kinda go with it because Amara is an amazing cuddler and warm as hell (hehe).

I added a few comments to the Google Document (which I noticed is at the bottom of the post in a very switcheroo-like fashion) with some grammatical stuff I saw. In addition, there are a few cheap jokes I'd like to make about certain lines. [“But then why do I—” Vee silenced herself as quickly as possible. That wasn’t a thought that needed finishing.] Don't worry, Vee. I'm sure you'll do some finishing soon. Possibly several times. [Other than briefly passing Amara, she didn’t find anything on her first pass.] That's the first time Vee will make a pass at Amara, but probably not the last. [Most of the time, magic is just math, but it’s the boring kind of math where there’s more letters than numbers.] If I offer to do Tessa's magic homework, do you think she'll agree to do my English homework? This is a standing offer. This one isn't a joke, but I have a theory that the reapers in Purgatory were once humans, and specifically these reapers were the humans that got sucked into the portal on the night of the ritual. It seems to track with the fact that Tessa's knife ended up there, and our girls trapped there haven't found any bodies of the cultists. If one of these chapters show a reaper with a missing wing / foot, I'm going to award myself with 1 Victory Point.

The Big Feel-a-thon Conversation World Tour 2 was just as good as the original! There's only so many ways to express that I'm completely onboard with characters I like talking about their feelings, so I'll leave it at this: I thought this chapter was really good! All of the conversations fit with Vee and Amara's re-emerging friendship, and nothing discussed felt out of place or out of character. To address your concerns about the rekindling friendship feeling rushed, I don't see anything troubling. This doesn't feel like a dramatic turnaround by either Amara or Vee. If Vee never wanted to be friends anymore, she could have shut off Amara after Halloween and not believed her about the cult. And if Amara never wanted to be friends again, she wouldn't have spent all of Book 2 trying to make amends with Vee. This chapter isn't putting anything out there that the audience hasn't had ample time to prepare for. In parts of the world that aren't in grey-scale, it looks like Nick and Tess are making some progress on their own characters. It's sort of tragic that Tessa's personality (or at least a large part of it) has been cultivated to push people away, and that any attempt made to connect with her is met with deflection. In a way, it's like a what-if scenario of Vee and Amara's situation. What if instead of the two girls talking through their problems, they decide to never reach out and start a conversation? I think Tessa might feel better if she opens up to someone eventually. For the record, I don't feel like Tessa opened up too easily. Anecdotally, and with hindsight, in some of my worse moments I would open up about something to somebody I knew I could trust, but the parts of me that felt ashamed would compel me to stop sharing. That's how I read Tessa's confession. She's desperate for other people to understand her, but she's internalized that she can't allow other people in, so when things slip out, her reinforced behavior is to make the hard conversation go away.

If Amara is anything like me, she will absolutely wake up spooning Vee without realizing she moved in her sleep. You did a great job showing two close friends who have hurt each other and been hurt by each other opening up to discuss their fears and vulnerabilities in order to mend their friendship and become closer.

As for the Tessa/Nick scene, I thought it was great. Learning, or at least confirming, that Nick is demi makes certain things make sense, but also very much challenges Tessa in a way that she needs. The idea that Tessa uses sex as a means to keep others at arm's length is really interesting, and says a lot about how she views sex, sexuality, etc. I'm also interested in unpacking what that might imply concerning her relationship with Amara. Is it possible that Tessa is specifically labeling Amara as "fuck buddy" (though with a plus of actual friendship there) as a way of avoiding facing any potential romantic feelings there? Also, from what I can tell, Tessa isn't pushing people away from getting close to her JUST because of wanting to protect (them from) magic. Tessa screams "trauma baby" to me, and I'm guessing this is a defensive mechanism to keep people from getting too close to her that just so happens to have a convenient (though still truthful) excuse of being necessary for her "higher calling." And, if I'm right, I can't wait for the gang to help her unpack THAT bit of social dysfunction.

As for readers maybe not realizing that there are still more conversations to come after this ... sorry, if they haven't realized that these two are still at the beginning of figuring out the dynamics between them, then they haven't been paying attention to what you've been writing. From my perspective, there is SO very much they still have to discuss, now thatvthe barest hurdle of "we don't hate each other and actually want to be friends agajn" has been crossed. Again, there is still a LOT of baggage from actions taken on both sides that need to be gone over and unpacked. Also, existential crises for both of them. Is Amara slowly turning into an actual monster and can she keep ahold of herself? What will happen to Vee if the church / her patron find out that she's actually wanting to be friends with a demon and, more likely an issue, is questioning the validity of what the church has taught her? Are there other issues with their inherent, likely diametrically opposed nature's that could make being friends difficult going forward that they don't know about yet? How will Tessa take all of this? And, most importantly, addressing the obvious and palpable sexual (and potentially romantic) tensions between them. What, exactly, will their relationship be now that both of them know each others' secrets ... and what do each of them WANT it to be? Yeah, there are still a LOT of questions and discussions that need to happen still, that much is obvious.

Sturstryk

Concerning the development of Amara and Vee's relationship into something resembling the friendship they used to have, I'm finding it pretty believable thus far. It really helps when they were best friends before all of this and, now that certain hurdles have been cleared, they both WANT to be friends again. Sure, there's a lot of trauma, injuries both physical and mental/emotional that were committed on both sides, and a LOT of uncertainty about a lot of things, but they're now both on the same page as far as relationship foundations and both want pretty much the same thing: their best friend back. So yeah, the fact that they're able to closer together this quickly feels about right. If it took longer I think you might have had the opposite issue with readers, that being a building frustration on why they are being so obtuse and stubborn about being friends again, possibly even feelings that you are drawing it out unnecessarily for the sake of added drama. So yeah, I think the pacing of them patching things up is going really well: they aren't quite back to where they were, but significant progress is being made towards a shared goal that they already have somewhat of a road map to on account that they've been there before. Also, I'm a bit dissapointed in myself at not realizing how guilt-ridden Vee must feel -- now that she's come to realize that Amara is still Amara, just with a supernaturally fuckable body, superpowers, and anger/libido management issues -- that she literally tried to murder her best friend on the night that was supposed to be the most validating night after months of terror, anxiety, and confusion without even attempting to find out what was actually happenning. That and her picking up on how terrified Amara still is, and how it mirrors her own fear of what's going on with herself is top notch stuff.

Sturstryk

First off, great chapter! Loved it from start to finish, and can't wait to read more!
