Well, I feel so "old tech" now! Just pack me up and send me to the Island of Misfit Tech Toys! ;) Speaking of which, I JUST now ordered a new PC from Digital Storm. I just don't have the patience to put PCs together anymore. :( Good luck getting everything back in working order! :)

I use m.2 NVME SSD, so that's probably not an option for me. :-) But I'm taking steps; it's only because of the move that things weren't set up to minimize this kind of upset already.

I can't help this, but I'm a HUGE computer nerd. ;) I have a neat inexpensive device that lets me clone drives with the push of a button. It's a Wavlink ST334UC USB 3.1 Dual Bay HDD/SSD Docking Station. Got it on Newegg when it went on sale for 30 bucks. Anyway, I had a system drive that was starting to give me trouble and all I had to do was get a new drive, slap it and my old drive into the bays, hit a button, and then install the new drive with the freshly cloned data back into my PC. Start to finish was about a half hour. :) The only tricky thing you might run into is if you clone to a larger drive. You'll need to fix the partition on the larger drive with a program like Partition Magic, otherwise your PC will only see the old drive's size. It's just a couple of clicks, a reboot, and you're all set. The cloning of a half a terabyte from an old SSD to a new one took about 10 minutes. You don't even need to have it plugged into your PC if all you're doing is cloning one drive to another. The drives just slide into their slots and, oh yeah, it was TWO button presses. Kind of a security/"are you sure" thing. ;) Anyway, it's a good thing to have around for cloning drives. You might not use it a whole awful lot, but when you DO use it, you will be happy you have it. It's normally just 35 bucks. :)
