Gardor

How does he not consider that his former attendants, one recently enrolled into the military, could be effected by this?

Neruz

Interesting that the King is immune to the loyalty flower, I wonder if that is because he is the King, or if he has some kind of item or skill that provides immunity. The war being over couches is both hilarious and historically plausible; wars have been fought over much stupider things than access to fancy furniture.

Amelgar

Did a King just throw the lands of a different Duke under the bus to force the MC to fight? No wonder they need a magic brainwashing plant to keep things stable with leadership like that

I was there 3000 years ago. The great couch war was in full motion. Great country of Sena was pushed to couch extinction by strong army of Mirktal. Endless slave hordes attacked and robed us of every couch craftsman. Couch extincion was near but armies of Freetoni,Eistoni and Birktoni grouped up under the flag of their king and pushed the hateful coutch robbers back into their slave kingdom. The full victory was almost at hand but then the king in heart of Rextoni capital saw the one true couch. It didnt fit to his body. But few moments after it even changed size just for him. Magic language covering entire couch. It looked like some kind of elvish. No one could read what was written on it but strong foul magic seeped into our king. The couch changed him almost in instant and then madness started........... (Chronicles vol.3 on Kingdom of Sena and great couch war from 3000 years ago By Grand wizard Fargus)

The war is about couches? This is utter madness! I LOVE IT!

They probably have springs in the good ones, especially if there are no elastics going around. Spring making might be a specialist thing in this world as they do require a high tensile steel.

The family has a total monopoly, and based on what we have seen, going against kingdom/noble privileges lead to death this setting. Making a regular couch from a carpenter perspective aint that difficult, but it would be a quick road to the chopping block if it ever was discovered. Which is easy, since all couches in this verse are high quality and only in high establishments, a 'normal' looking couch must be a counterfeit and therefor against the law. Aint too weird, before the renaissance in northern Italy, a few certain paints pigments belonged solely to different factions or men, using something similar was banned by law and sometime pope (with huge differences to punishment)

Bunny Waffles

The devil kind of couches do they have that require specific craftsmen to make them? Give me some wood, some stuffing, amd some fabric and I could cobble together a rough couch in the course of a day working solo. Wouldn't be the prettiest thing but you could sit on it for sure.
