The issue is dude cares about people. He acts cold to others but he acts that way because of years of seeing everyone he cares for dying of old age as he still is young. Dude isn't heartless or uncaring. Just has 100+ years of therapy to do. oh and the drug addiction didn't help too. Seems the man was a broken wreck, rich but a broken wreck of a person at the start.

Oh yeah good point, i too go looking in past chapter saying wtf and confused I was waiting a starting line following the next of this tense conversation and the answer of our Wizard I get confused a bit untill i think, "ah that was how he gonna do it with a flash-back or a explanation of the effect of this meeting"

Kevin Caffrey

I thought the chapter was fine, but since you asked for feedback, I did find the start to be somewhat jarring. The previous chapter ended in the middle of a tense negotiation, but it took a couple paragraphs to get back to the result of that negotiation. At first I thought I had missed a chapter. Maybe opening the chapter with something like “In the end, the price for justice ended up being that which the King was unwilling to pay: couches”. Or some other way of connecting the previous chapter.

Sight (poor bastard), he run away to get peace of mind and get out of chain, and all people keep trying to put some on him, he a little to much push over by other in the last few chapter, i mean what reputation and co when he clearly want to get away in the first place, just fuck it and fuck them all, draw a line Nemon at some point, i wait his outburst really (emotionnel or logic), seeing him flip the table and say fuck you (hell he can still run in the last ressort) and i doubt they can do too much thing if he reinforce like mad his place and say stay the fuck away, (when pestilence gonna come soon, hell if i was him im tempted to release them early just to point middle finger to them) with his big illusion and his skill who seem to work too in the court and nobody notice, he can plan a fake death too and live quietly and away of this after with a new identity Im curious nothing exist (spell/item/cristal) for recording thing (like video) i mean "hey guys look at this record video of the plain with the ocean of pestilence" "yeah you see now, sooo, im busy to prepare and find way for this so stop interupting me and pestering me with your own shit and let me alone capish?" And it seem he can divine/clairvoyance his experiment still in the territory of pestilence and still see here so a thing for showing what he see to other seem not at all streched for me

Count shielding would have sent his troops west not east right?

I feel that he avoids writing about these feelings too much. At the beginning he also was avoiding talking too much about his friend's death. To be honest, after hearing what happened I half expected him to go back to nuke the Capital.

This was really good overall, although I somewhat feel that Nemon has pushed aside his feelings about Walker a bit quickly, when we've seen in earlier chapters just how haunted he is by all the people he's lost. I would have expected him to be particularly upset that he's only managed to receive couches at the cost of others' lives, ruining whatever comfort he might have felt having them to sit on. That aside, given how spiteful and petty the King has shown himself to be, and that he's given Nemon the burden of defending his own lands, I'm surprised that he hasn't jumped to fill the area with a host of greater elementals and all sorts of magical barriers. The King already tried to assassinate him, and sent those close to him to their deaths. No ruler would leave that job half finished, especially with how much power a wizard has. Once the war ends, I'd expect a royal army to show up at the tower thirsty for blood.
