Should I tell her about that, too? But I didn’t have a way of showing Deen the existence of Spooky Erind. I’d just let it be, for now.
Recounting what happened at Sanders Mall, I narrated that I turned into my Blanchette form and fought Myra, biting her neck.
“Technically, I almost killed her back then, too,” I said. “I remember breaking her collarbone. I suppose that’s why I’m not so angry at her. Still, she did cause me to become a—What’s wrong?” I noticed Deen glaring at me.
“So… I’m not the first woman that you’ve bitten,” she said in an icy tone. The water from the shower traced the curves of her body, making my heart beat faster.
“Are you freaking serious? We were in a fight!” I protested, drawing my gaze away from Deen’s bumpers. Was this a manifestation of Deen’s toxic girlfriend side? She was more unreasonable than me!
“So?” Deen shrugged. “You still took a bite out of her.”
“That was a different bite. I drew blood—super not the same with the biting going on between us.”
Deen replied with only a humph as she buried her hands in her hair, pulling her golden locks over her shoulders. The water hit her face, rolling down to her chest. Parts of her blonde hair that had become wet darkened in color. She did a slow twirl as the water rained on her.
Her slightly flushed skin told me that she enjoyed that I was watching. I also enjoyed it, but I was still annoyed by the situation and her reaction. No one hadn’t done this to me before, but now I knew that I didn’t like it when people didn’t answer me.
“I have bitten a lot of people, Deen,” I said. “I’ve eaten a lot of people, guys, girls, monsters. There’s nothing to it.”
“Nothing…” Deen repeated as she turned around and faced the wall opposite me.
I know that she did it because she was angry at me, but she also presented her lovely posterior. I could see now why the shape of the heart came from the shape of the butt. Talking about biting, I wanted to sink my teeth into her bouncy butt cheeks. Maybe she’d stop bitching if I did that.
Kind of weird that I was feeling horny despite being irritated at Deen. Were those two emotions connected? Was horniness an emotion? I was discovering a lot of new things about myself as if I were watching a nature documentary about me. Uncanny.
“But you don’t think that it’s nothing,” I pointedly said. “Why are you making an issue out of me biting Myra?”
“Because it is an issue.”
“Well, yeah. An issue. But you seem to be categorizing it as a different sort of issue. It’s not like that, okay? There’s nothing between us. This is crazy.”
“I am crazy. I’m also angry.”
I sighed as I watched Deen pull her wet hair forward, down over her chest. Her back was like a work of art, a perfect blend of toned muscle and bits of soft flesh. Water traced the angles of her shoulder blades. “There was an intent to kill,” I said. “For both of us. My fangs stabbed into her flesh and—"
“Don’t describe it to me!” Deen stomped her foot, causing her butt to jingle. As her ass cheeks parted for a moment, I saw the delectable sights that they hid.
“Deen, don’t destroy the floor tiles,” I said, with my breath almost caught in my throat. I was pretending that I didn’t notice what she was doing.
Deen turned around and faced me with her full nakedness, drawing her wet hair away from her breasts. “What happened then?” she demanded, thrusting her chest forward as she placed her hands on her hips and swayed left.
“No-nothing much,” I said, observing her nipples pointing at me. The quivering tips betrayed Deen’s arousal. “Myra ran away, and that’s it.”
“I don’t like it when you hide things from me, Erind,” Deen said. “When did Everett come into the story? Tell me.”
“Fine… I will.”
Deen turned off the shower and proceeded to lather herself in soap, covering her body with white bubbles. She continued putting on a show for me—she knew that I knew that she knew. My interpretation was that despite being genuinely angry, Deen loved me. I was that lovable and irresistible.
“Myra was severely wounded,” I said. “She had taken a Suppressor earlier, so her powers weren’t back yet. She was able to run away from me because I couldn’t control myself very well. Everett came along—I think he followed my trail of blood. And then… he set me on fire.”
Deen stopped massaging her breast with soap. “That bastard!” Another stomp. Her breasts jiggled.
But I couldn’t focus on appreciating Deen’s body because there was a distinct sound of a crack that echoed in the bathroom. “Deen, you broke the—”
“He hurt you! He also killed innocent people in the mall. Murdered them. I’m not going to talk to him ever again.”
“It’s probably manslaughter because he didn’t intend to do it,” I said. “I can’t recall much. Anyway, Everett was panicking because they couldn’t easily stop me. He turned up the heat. Just flames everywhere. It got out of control and spread all over the mall. He didn’t intend to burn it down. He only wanted to save—”
“Don’t make excuses for them,” Deen said. I couldn’t quite explain why she gave off this angry and intimidating presence despite being naked. I kind of like that about her. “In a way,” Deen continued, “Myra is also an accomplice in the murders. If she didn’t try to kill us, you wouldn’t have turned into an Adumbrae, and Everett wouldn’t be there to try and stop you.”
“I’m not saying I disagree with you—I’m setting that straight now. But we’re not the police here. Unless you’re saying that we report Myra and Everett? That’ll also harm us.”
“They have to pay for what they did.”
“But it’s not up to us to make them pay,” I said, proud of that profound line. Too bad my soft voice didn’t carry with it the gravity of such an awesome delivery. “I’m sure that they’ve agonized about what they’ve done.”
“Does Everett know that you know?” Deen asked as she moved to lather her legs. Very long legs. A hint of envy crept up my heart, coupled with a desire to bite Deen’s thighs.
“He doesn’t,” I replied. “And I have no intention of telling him.”
“You shouldn’t easily forgive—”
“I’m not forgiving him. I also haven’t forgiven Myra. But that doesn’t mean that I want to fight them. Peace is so much better.” There. I was reminding Deen that I was good-natured and timid, not wanting conflict.
Deen would come out as the bad guy in this situation, and I’d take advantage of that. My current plan was to use Deen as my proxy for revenge. However, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with Myra. Physical violence wasn’t satisfactory. Even if I’d rip off her limbs, she’d just grow them back. Pain was nothing to us. I also didn’t want to kill Myra just yet because she was useful to me.
“Are you saying that we let karma run its course?” Deen asked, hands on her hips again. Somehow, all the soapy bubbles made her look more erotic.
“I don’t believe in karma,” I said, swinging my legs as I sat on the sink to stave off the smoldering desire between my legs. Then I stopped, realizing that I looked like a kid. “But I believe in letting time heal things. Eventually, I’ll find it in me to forgive both of them.”
“That’s you,” Deen said, turning on the shower again. The water rinsed the soap off her body. “Not me. You may have found peace or whatever, but I want to get even with Myra.”
“How?”
“I-I don’t know. I’ll think of something. I’m not going to make peace until I… do… something to her.”
“Well, you better think of that something fast because I don’t want the two of you fighting in here. How about slapping her? Uh, punching her? I’m sure Myra will be fine if you hurt her as revenge.”
Deen slowly shook her head. “No. Not enough…” She stepped out of the shower. “I’ll think of it later. You have some making up to do first.”
“Wait, what? You’ve just taken a bath!”
“Make a mess out of me and let’s have a bath together after.”
(Author’s Notes: The reveal of the final boss of REND—Amber Deen Leska, the Toxic Girlfriend. I have a feeling that Deen fits the toxic girlfriend role even if Erind is the psychopath. Also, I’m only realizing now that it’s a weird scene in the bathroom while they were discussing serious matters.)
