DESCENT DOUBLE HEADER

Not just for Descent, but for the simple madness that researching Descent would bring. From the studio closures to the boomer-ass references, I only knew I was going to suffer as soon as I hit level 6. I hope the video doesn't induce too much nausea. I tried to keep the spinning to a minimum. As I say in the video I don't get motion sickness a lot from games. I mention Overload in VR being the worst offender, but I also experienced it when I played Quake 2 in VR. Speed and 1990's graphics are the worst. It's like being in a tumbling cardboard diorama with angry cyborg action figures.
A few days ago I was very happy with this video but now that I've watched it 10 times I want it off my hard drive and into your eyeballs to feed the content brainworms. There are some sections of this that were an absolute joy to make and I think you'll be able to tell which ones.

My brother traded Witchaven 2 for Decent 2 back in the day. I have no clue what broken soul wants a Witchaven game over Decent. Unless Decent just does that to a person after a while. But Decent 2 is up there with Tie Fighter for "nostalgic acupuncture in my brain."

Hunting friends in LAN using a joystick with a hat switch was revolutionary. That hat switch really makes moving around in full 360 intuitive and much easier to pull off.

Descent (at least the shareware version) was my very first FPS, practically my first videogame that wasn't played on a borrowed console. I remember my dad floundering around with it while my mom watched and got nauseous. Then my brother and I took over and eventually made it to the level 7 boss, which consistently kicked our asses so much that I believed it intentionally cheated to keep us from going on because it wasn't the full version. Good time.
