Exophobia: Pew Pew and Boom Boom
🕑 Added 2024-09-17 18:58:04 +0000 UTCA little treat before I'm locked in on October videos, Exophobia was a fairly recent release (the end of July is recent?) that I wanted to look at because it's sort of in the wheelhouse of this channel while being something a bit different. You can only play the latest Doom/Quake/Ultrakill riffs so many times before something garishly pixelated and extra-retro catches your attention. And with Boomstock happening right now on Steam it seems more important than ever to highlight one of the million shooters coming out in a saturated market. This is probably the only release you'll see in September because I've slotted in a second October video. I wasn't going to but then I remembered that Halloween is awesome.
I don't know why it didn't occur to me to put Condemned: Criminal Origins on my schedule before instead of the bigger, slightly more complicated video that will hit at the end of October. We're stepping away from the boomshoots for Condemned, but we're stepping far away from them for the video afterwards. It's not a point-and-click, though I do always want to do more of those, and watching this video closely might give away what it is.
I've changed my workflow a bit to have several different vids in the pipeline at once. Right now, work is going into the October videos and most of the gameplay is captured for those. After that, I'm hoping to start working on one of those really big videos that will probably be 90 minutes long. And then no one will be able to ask me where the Half-Life 2 video is ever again...

Was just thinking about this today. In my opinion, the sign of a truly great content creator is when you can go back and binge watch all of their content multiple times and not get tired of it. I've only found 3 YouTubers with content like this, Red Letter Media, Oney Plays, and Civvie 11. Civvie being the only Solo act of that list really shows just how good he is at his job.

Aww, the graphics on this one take me back… to… one and only one very specific location. The top deck reminds me of Commander Keen 2. By the way, did you ever give RoboCop: Rogue City a spin? Made by the same crew that was behind Terminator: Resistance, and they clearly showed the RoboCop IP the same amount of love and respect.

Wheyy, good catch. Looks quite a bit like Cancer Mouse, don’t it? CM usually pops up in videos when the content matter of the game involves something that can be considered questionable or somewhat racist according to modern sensibilities, so it would track. Saying ’someone stupid’ might be like blowing a dog whistle for ye’ olde Mousey.

Speaking of point and clicks from your description, id totally think Sam and Max Hit the Road or the telltale seasons (they even got remastered recently!) Would make a very interesting video, or even set of videos. Sam and Max doesn't get enough attention imo. (my pfp on here is a bit of a giveaway on my stance lol)
