If you can't tell by the video itself, I was absolutely fucking hyped to play this again. While Academy is a little tighter in it's combat, this is the one that set the gold standard.
No, the video doesn't include Jedi Academy or Mysteries of the Sith, because damn it, this was going to be the more entertaining video. (Jaden Korr is still a dork.)
Peak Katarn. Peak Raven. I'm glad I was able to get a couple more Raven games under my belt before tackling this one. It is one of the best Raven games, if not the best. A monumental achievement in licensed video games. The rarest of gems where they contracted it out and the results were better than if they hadn't. Not to shit on LucasArts, they had some fantastic talent working there, but they're not Raven.
Despite the lack of punching and the lack of Kell Dragons, this is easily my favorite of the Dark Forces games. It is everything a game about a space wizard should be. It somehow brings every facet of the Dark Forces series together into one package that begins with boomshoot and ends with a stupid boss battle, which is also very boomshoot, but everything in between is just right. Except the forced stealth section.
Next time I'm hoping to cover something new. I'm not sure what that will be just yet since there are 500 indie retro shooters coming out and I have every one flooding my inbox.
P.S. Rest in Peace, Monolith. WB did was WB was gonna do, and what Disney does too - cannibalize.

Oh man, this video really takes me back to some good times in primary school. It turns out, both our computer studies teacher and I were stuck on the same level - some sort of jungle section where the way foward was underwater through a hole in a rock or something. When I told him how to progress, he was impressed and it was an awesome feeling to impress your teacher! Good memories - thanks for covering this game, Civvie!

This game is deeply embedded in my brain. I got it shortly before I hurt my dominant arm and couldn't use it for several weeks ... I've gone though pain trying to play it, but had to concede after a couple of tries. I don't know which hurt more, the physical pain trying to play it ... to the psychical torture having the game sitting there and not being able to play it. Also, something I discovered later, you can cheat your Jedi powers via console commands to a higher lever than available though game-play. This level changes the mind trick to directly control the enemies.

I can admit that Star Wars is a thing that’s somewhat geared towards kids. Hell, I enjoyed Episode 1 when it came out because I was like 10. I just wish it wasn’t also shit a lot of the time. I feel the same way about Doctor Who.

Dark Forces was the first video I've seen from you years ago, glad to see the sequel. Played a lot of JK2 and Academy back in the day. As a kid I killed Desann with a single hit in strong form, was really dissatisfied so I reloaded the save and couldn't beat him anymore. Anyways, thanks for the vid Civvie!
