Like a goddess of like might be playing with chance tables, or a trickster god might have a claw on the scale? Serenity doesn’t just have bad people skills, he is operating with eons of knowledge and shortcuts to the people in charge and treats them as equals, when most of the time people in power or authority know when someone is rising through the ranks and learn about them before hand or expect people unknown to them to enter their sphere of influence with a certain amount of deference. Jemma is used to knowing who the rune makers are and if they are someone new then they should have a card. Some upstart punk thinks he knows runes cuz he read about them and wants a guild card should really show her a little more respect.

That's fair

Depends on how literal... Lots of fantasy I've read had Smith for magical non-metal related crafts and creations. I've also often heard wordsmith used for storytelling. 🤷‍♂️

Danielle Warvel

Agreed. I’ve noticed that with a lot of side characters too. I mean, maybe Serenity doesn’t have the best social skills or common sense, but that many people being so rude to him because of it seems a little skewed.

If you mean Jemma, she has a reason. It should be clear in the next chapter.

All of those specializations should exist. Runic Scribe seems like a possible entry point. Not sure how it works for a Guild name, hmmm.

This is something i have noticed for a while now, many characters of your story mostly minor characters are really rude/mean to serenity for no reason. Or they are incredibly trusting. Some like the librarian are strangley dismissiv and seem like npcs that don't really engage with the people they are talking to.

Skchoad

Maybe Runic Rector? Not sure it is a common enough word.

SpaceGoddess76

Perhaps Rune Scholar?

I’ve seen Runecrafters, Runesmiths, Runic Scribe, Runic Mage, Runecarver, Runelord, etc. There's also specialists like Rune Priest, Rune Knight, Rune Mage, Rune Healer, etc.

Smith implies they'd be crafting with metal, doesn't it? Serenity's branch would be Runemage. Maybe that? I'm not sure it's generic enough to both cover theoretical uses and actual practical use.

Maybe Runesmith, there would be a leather workers guild that would take raw hides and turn them into leather before selling it to various guilds that would use it.
