Waste of Time - CH9 P16-P19 & Project cancellation
🕑 Added 2025-01-01 16:54:52 +0000 UTCYeaah maybe this is not the New Years post you wanted to get, but that's one I have. I can't keep working on Waste of Time anymore and decided to cancel the project.
I started working on it in 2020 and with 127 pages drawn it would average to 2,5 pages every month.
Main reason is after 2022 I just... don't want to & can't draw violence & physically hurt my own characters. I don't want to use buzzwords, but topics of death are really triggering for me. And there needs to be tension, and violence, and gun scenes in a believable Fallout fan story.
I don't want to ditch the characters or making comics. I do have a lot of slice-of-life scenes in mind that I want to portray with them as well as other interactable project ideas.
It is heartbreaking to cancel something I've spent so much time on. But sadly I can't go on anymore.

Oh hey thanks for the suggestion! :3 There are way more reasons why I can't work on the project anymore, and it feels like if I'll eliminate just one it's not going to be good enough sadly.

Massive sadness, I loved the series... Though, just a thought, if it would help as a kind of mental workaround, you could do something kinda like what Tom does with TwoKinds, with the idea that the series is like a TV/streaming series from an alternate reality, and the characters are just that, characters being portrayed by actors (albeit all non-human actors in this case). That would make any violence just effects makeup, CGI and the like. Would also open up the possibility for some "behind the scenes" comics where we could see the 'actors' playing Lazy, Tori, Dean, Stacy, etc. interacting in a modern/'real-life' setting outside your version of the Fallout world.

Sad to see this end but I understand Elva. Hurting your characters is one of the hardest things you can do. I really enjoyed this story from start to end. I would love to see those slice of life scenes, I bet they are just the cutest! Keep doing what you do best Elva, I can’t wait to see what you do next!

I understand, hurting your own characters must be rough. As sad as it is to see this project cancelled, I'm glad the comic was started. I love the characters in it and hope to see more of them in other pieces. You do what's best for you Elvche, and as always keep up the great work.
