Oh talking about the dogs vs cats thing - I think it’s because dogs more represent masculinity and cats more femininity. For example, people like to get dogs for protection or for work, like service dogs and police dogs. You train them, they often serve a purpose. Whereas cats are very much more laid back, they’re softer and more self-sufficient and they’ve always been represented alongside women in history, like witches always have cats, there’s the stigma of the “crazy cat lady” and even back in ancient Egypt they were seen to represent things like fertility and maternity. Idk, just a tangent I thought was interesting.
