I lived in Japan 2000-2006, it was really bad the pictures being taken up the skirts. At that time mini skirts were really popular and Japan is really futuristic and over populated. So escalators everywhere. Most of the pictures were being taken on those. The guys riding behind the girls. Gross Japan is a beautiful country, but closet perverts everywhere. They have these love hotels and you can rent them by the hour and they're really nice and fun. We would go party in them after the club. Karaoke, hot tubs, games etc. One type they had this cool bathtub with jems on the bottom of the bath. We saw an eyeball looking up at us. Thankfully we were in our bar and undies sharing a drunken bath, but holy fuk, it scared the cajeepers out of us. Heard tons of our stories of the mirrors having camera in them, bed frames etc.... Crazy

It sounds like with the last advice the friend is not on good terms with their family and maybe even no contact. If I had that type of relationship with my family and my friend kept going out of their way to talk to them and invite them places I’d feel uncomfortable about it. Especially if I was worried about my friend sharing details about my life with the family I don’t talk to. There might be history between the family and the person writing in which might change things, but still weird that the connection to the family is so important.
