i used to work at a dr office and if someone said they had insurance, we had to use it whether they wanted to or not because then it would be considered insurance fraud

Obamacare introduced the penalty for not having insurance. accidentally let my policy lapse for about 14 months, even with the bullshit fees for not having insurance, it saved me like 12 grand. forcing healthy young people to buy expensive health insurance just to subsidize the old people that account for the lions share of the medical claims is morally dubious, at best.

Nah get a new therapist for sure. I don’t care what you talk to them about or how you talk about them your therapist is supposed to be helpful. If they say they don’t know how to help or whatever it’s fine for a new one honestly. I’ve had therapy all my life it’s not easy to find one that’s helpful

hey alyssa, idk if you’ll read this but I know exactly what you’re talking about when you said you don’t know why your mood spirals. I’m on lexapro with diagnosed anxiety, depression, ptsd, etc. I get those moods all the time. I suddenly become really sad or despondent and I can’t ever explain why. Fun fact, not eating often enough makes those depression moods worse. (For me at least) Try to grab a snack when you feel your mood spiraling- it could help. Also take your meds girl!!! love you🫶🏻🩷

Hi Alyssa! Mental health therapist here. It sounds like you are paying towards your deductible with your psychiatrist right now and once it's reached, the amount you owe should go down significantly (still a bullshit system, no doubt). If you don't have insurance then you'd be paying for your therapist/psychiatrist out of pocket. BetterHelp and related organizations are great for increasing access for people to seek mental health services AND it's kind of considered the "Shein" of therapist options. I know a lot of therapists in CA don't accept insurance but there should be some providers who either accept it or have a lower self-pay rate that you could look into! Very happy to share more ideas/insights if it would be helpful as well.
