For me, a good plot can elevate even the most trashy of books.
Nice art can only get you so far, but a good art style plus an interesting plot makes for a better more well rounded "reading"experience for me...!

I think the only real mistake is when the author spends too much time on his plot and then the book becomes drags to get to the "good parts"...😉 Since I'm basing my scenario on a very specific episode of the anime I don't want it to be 100% necessary to have watched the series to understand what's going on, so I had to spend some time laying out some necessary plot points.
