Mission: Impossible 2
🕑 Added 2020-07-21 04:01:00 +0000 UTCTommy’s back for M:i-2! John Woo's bird and mask reveal-filled sequel is notoriously always ranked at the bottom of the Mission franchise. But can it be redeemed by Limp Bizkit, motorcycle jousting, glowing virus tubes, and Thandie Newton’s screen presence alone? Maybe not, but we had fun figuring it out. For context, we also recorded this commentary before that Vulture Thandie interview dropped (keep an eye out for that zit!) because you know Blank Check... we gotta keep on rollin, baby. You know what time it is.
The movie starts at 9:54
[Note: At the 35:27 minute mark, there’s a short gap in our commentary. Don’t re-sync the movie if you’re following along! Our Zoom dropped out and we don’t hear each other for a minute but the recording is still on track with the movie.

Also Gred Durst would be a good guest. Listen to his Club Random episode He LOVES movies, he only went into music as a path ti directing.

I was so excited cited to see Luther!! I saw the M:I in theaters and no other one since then. I am paramount+ing this month so I'm Doing M:I and it's so fun. I don't dislike Tom Cruise.

Why does Griffin sound like a chipmunk at the beginning of this episode? I noticed this a few times at the start of a commentary, that the production on Griffin's vocal is really weird and then it normalizes later on in the episode. Is this an elaborate comedy bit?

The way Griffin pronounces Lars Ulrich hurts my soul lmao
Vasyl Kerimov
The lack of love for M:i-2 in this episode is a clear sign of the death of romance in the modernity.
Kevin Smith
100 comedy points to Ang for the "Love Shack" joke

Robbed of a Best Song nomination, tbh. I'm serious! The Oscars that year was far too staid--the craziest thing that happened was that Bjork performed in the swan dress. Bob Dylan, the eventual winner, didn't even bother coming! He made them set up cameras so he could livestream his performance from wherever he happened to be touring at the time! I don't think he would have videoed in if he knew Fred Durst was going to be rapping "I know why you wanna hate me" to a bewildered Academy audience in his formal backwards baseball cap (a regular backwards baseball cap with a little bow tie on it).

Let us never forget that the Limp Bizkit theme song was nominated for a grammy...

Just wanna say that moments like David saying "well, you had friends with permissive parents and your mom was just doin' the best she could!" are one of the reasons I love this show because how often do you hear a man's voice that's trying to have a little perspective? That's why he sims.

Being an Aussie, I noticed you missed a glaring location issue that always bugs me when I see this movie. Ethan sets up his base of operations in Broken Hill, which is over 1000km from Sydney. It's like setting up in Indianapolis when your target is in NYC. Insane!

Feel like David would have picked up on how goofy it is how many times the characters cross their arms and look cool. Even if you just swip through the IMDB stills.... It's fun fun funny

Griffin doing Lars as a child because of I Disappear is the Rosetta Stone of the man

Why can't you just announce the next mini series when you have already started recording it? It makes it so much easier for us to track down the movies for it.

David really articulated how watchable yet awful this movie is, and the uphill battle of attempting to convince oneself that it's good.

But Griffin, for real, why don’t Ducky and Bunny go to Bonnie at the end of TS4?
Jeremy Jones
is this the most bathroom break friendly movie of all time?
Infinite Terror
"I Disappear" plays in the background.

I think they should bring back Sand Gun and Cable as the villains in M:i-7
Jake
Wind Talkers is the first movie that I’ve seen and Griffin hasn’t. Take that fart face.

The Hoz vapors just billowed through the room when I heard the words "I need to share something---regarding Papa Roach"
