Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles
🕑 Added 2021-02-01 05:00:04 +0000 UTCWe've made it to the final installment of the CD marathon Checkmates!
It's been 13 years since we last heard from Croc and some big things have changed. Mick and Sue have started a family. They've left the outback for sunny Los Angeles. But what hasn't changed? Those leathery bare arms and amateur fish out of water sleuthing!
Join the gang as they discuss exotic creatures, tax evasion, a litany of character actors that show up in this movie, Ben offers some big punch up ideas for Croc's son and Griffin gives his review of Outback Steakhouse. Plus, their CD rankings, and they announce the next franchise.
The movie starts at...9:53

Lighting Jack is a lot of fun. Easily Hogan’s second best film. It seems to only be available on second hand DVD. But it’s great.

I remember seeing this cover at my local video store. They had a poster for it. Just finished 2 let’s hope 3 is fun, l mean it’s 2001 there has to be some type of goofy jokes.

The opening guy is the same character as the hired bush guide in Crocodile Dundee 2! Now they’re friends??

...the biggest shock of this commentary was when the on-set animal wrangler explained to background extra Mick Dundee that Kiki the chimpanzee was “above the title” of the film, with no comment from Griffin...

Cockneys, Australians, they all sound equally common when you've been raised within the unspeakably posh confines of Dislington.
Brandon John
David, as someone who lived in England ("WHAT!?" *bells* etc.) surely you recognise that your 'Australian' accent verges closer to cockney than anything Antipodean?

shout out to when how i met your mother when this was the last words of Jason seagulls charters dad was to watch this movie
Kobold King
your willpower is unmatched i would have caved

had an intake with an Australian gentleman at work the day after hearing this and it took me every single goddamned atom in my being to not bring this up

I was 17 and Australian when this came out. My memory is that while boomers here retain some affection for Hogan, no Australians saw this sequel as anything other than one last desperate cash grab/possible money laundering scheme. I honestly have far more nostalgia for Yahoo Serious, which is minimal

Just kidding, I had fun!

Just like Robinhood had to stop people from buying GameStop stocks, Patreon is gonna have to stop people from unsubscribing after this to prevent Blank Check from going bankrupt after this miniseries.

Everyone should check out the How Did This Get Made episode on Croc Dundee in LA where Matthew Berry explains how writing this lead to a long arbitration case where he was embarrassed to publicise that he was the writer of this movie lol
Jordi
Lost it at “the writer was grinderwald and this was one of his crimes”
Hunter Steffes
It’s definitely the fantasy football guy! He talks about it in his columns too!
Chuck Emmett
Glad to hear that other people already are correcting the ESPN Matthew Berry thing. The HDTGM episode on Croc3 with him talking about it is great. Paul Hogan sounds like one of the biggest a-holes ever.
Oscar
I gotta say the first croc Dundee was on constant play at my grandparents place when I was a kid, I got the DVD of croc dundee 3 and watched it sooo many times. This is the first time I’ve watched it in 17 years, and I still kinda love having it on visually. It’s like taking Xanax. I might rewatch this next time I’m hungover.
Max
Yeah, I got a little mad at that too. I enjoyed how Berry has talked about how they wrote the script as him just kind of being oblivious and reacting to things and then hogan went in and rewrote it so the scene where he’s in the gay club and being oblivious and just having a good time was turned into a gay panic scene. Paul Hogan apparently has to make sure that every one knows he isn’t gay.
Manish Agarwal
"I kinda wish that his son was just a big knife. That talked."
Graham Robinson
ESPN's Matthew Berry also discusses his arbitration processes to get screenwriting credit on the "How did this get made" podcast. That being said, always love the 3rd movie of the night energy and who wouldn't be drained after watching Crocodile Dundee II.
Kevin Ray
No it IS the ESPN Matthew Berry, he talks about it all the time on the Fantasy Focus Podcast!!!

David’s flustered “G’day!” at the top has me pumped for this episode.
