Drive-In Special
🕑 Added 2020-12-11 05:16:20 +0000 UTCOn October 8th, 2020 the BC crew attended a NYC drive-in screening of 1998’s Armageddon. It was the first time they had seen each other IRL in many months. This special episode captures that day. Plus, a month later, they follow-up and check-in about their first time back at Da Moviesh. Please enjoy!

Kinda, but not really. Sorry.

Like Henry said, by all accounts it was her choice. But I agree that I’ll miss her perspective on the show, I love the boys but I think her presence helped broaden their appeal to people who aren’t so bought in.

as far as i can tell it wasn't anything to do with the community- seen nothin but love n support on the subreddit- i think she's just moving on to other stuff

This feels like a true crime podcast ep with all the car talk and I’m all for it.
Eric Gressman
Wait wait, I've only just finished this ep. Can we be explicit here? Has the community at large been shitty to Ang or not? If so, be honest so we can take a serious look at ourselves, because I've been disappointed here as well. If not... well nothing but I'm super sad to hear the barracuda go, the show's biggest downfall was having a *pretty narrow* set of perspectives, and I, for one, thought that she was bringing a voice that was really important.

I can't tell you how much it warmed my (west coast, but still) scum bum heart when Ben did the wrestling X gesture. I'm a 35-year-old woman who has literally never watched a WWE/ whatever wrestling match, and the second Ben said "You know, this gesture? " I knew in my heart it was the "suck deez nuts" all the shitty middle school dudes did. Scum bum respect.
Ross Kroeber
They should all be in the regular feed for whatever podcatcher you use

Hi! Where can I get the full archives of the regular show? Thanks!

Beautifully edited episode and really heartfelt. It was nice getting a better view at what you are all going through in 2020 while you keep us happy with the podcast. This run of Zemeckis motion capture movies discussion has been particularly fascinating and makes me miss getting into it with my friends over the same kind of stuff. I may have shared bits of what you guys have been discussing with my friends in the hopes they’r finally give the pod a listen, but they’re just not podcast enthusiasts... This episode made me emotional and thank you so much for sharing so much of yourselves with us.

Ben idk if you’ll see this, but try Pepcid mint flavor for your indigestion. I also have gerd and it’s the only thing that helps me. Also milk helps
Kelly Briscoe
My roommate and I were talking to the same checkin person at the Skyline when we saw The Holiday

I'm really happy they got to do this, I'm really sad they had to this. I live in a pretty rural area and don't really understand what our fine film friends have been going through. I sure appreciate them more for it
Michael David
I'm back to work on film production in NYC right now, have been since mid October. I'm happy that Griffin has been able to put his foot down and stay where it's safe, cause it doesn't feel safe painting scenery right now.

As soon as Ben said “do you guys remember this?” And I screamed “SUCK IT” cause I’m a ditch kid

I really miss da moviesh!!! Just wanted to chime in to answer Ben's query about how Harry Potter... 1 was released in the Philippines, as I was growing up in the Philippines in the thick of Pottermania. I distinctly remember the Scholastic US editions with the Mary Grandpere illustrations being popular around here in the 2000s, and I believe that the local MTRCB would have caught on to the success of the books as the movies were being released, in order to ensure that they were being released under the same title. In general though, the movie market in the Philippines tends to follow the US market?? Ergo we rarely ever get British releases that aren't insanely huge blockbusters like your Nolans and your James Bonds (I never even got to see the Three Colours Trilogy until it was out on VCD/DVD.) The "Sorcerer's" title is still generally accepted here, to the point that this event (https://primer.com.ph/blog/2019/09/16/harry-potter-and-the-sorcerers-stone-in-concert-a-symphonic-adventure-to-the-wizarding-world/) from 2019 used it. Great episode guys, and best wishes to Barracuda!!!

Exceptionally relatable stuff
Laura Horstmann
This was....beautiful?
Filip Boratyn
It also felt both hopeful and hopeless

This episode is the greatest achievement in podcasting!
Jeremy Jurgens
I just want Ben to know that I go to the drive in by myself all the time! My wife doesn’t do horror movies, so I always go to those alone, & have a GREAT time.
Holden Martinson
This is a legitimate all-timer. Also, farewell and best wishes to the Ferraguto the Barracuda.
Lundon Boyd
This episode made me happy then made me sad
Christopher De La Rosa
yo this thing is edited sooo well

Was Ben offered a role in David Lowery's Peter Pan movie? Is that the pirate role he missed?
Leaves of Fall
Noooo! No more Ang?:’( that... that’s one of the worst things of this year
Spencer Anthony
Vroom vroom!
Lauren Damon
Finally the GERD representation I've been looking for in a podcast! (Seriously, it's a dumb affliction and I miss bingeing junky food)
KB
Beautiful episode. We love you, Ang, and we'll miss you terribly!
Isaiah Bornman
This edit mash up is wonderful. Thanks for the extra work on this.
Abbas Momin
Loved the drive in episode guys. Really appreciate all the episodes you have put out this year. Going to miss Ang on the show, especially during the commentary episodes. Big virtual hugs to you all.
Ben Starkey
This is really special. Thank you for being a friend.
Michael Piet
The editing is superb. I'm loving the audio drops and cutting the stories together!
andrew coleman
Just listening to that exchange made me anxious. I wanted Ben to explain "no I'm meeting friends here" but that would just be more confusing or sound like a lie. I don't blame the guy though, it must be hard working a public facing job in a pandemic & having to constantly remain chipper. He was just genuinely taken aback.
Jack
This ep is not bad, it’s gerd
Josh Gray
Holy shit that drive-in dude is podcast magic. Get him in for a regular ep!
Manish Agarwal
“This isn’t road rage, by the way, this is just how I drive.”
Jack
The editing on this is masterful

Bon voyage, Barracuda
Casper Koopman
The drive-in guy that helped Ben is why I have social anxiety. 🤷♂️
Nick Runyon
This episode is warming my heart. For the first time in a long time, it feel like everything might be normal again someday.
John Albrecht
One of the best eps? What a lovely group of folks. Blank it and bank it.
Ray Goldberg
Oh hey it’s Jordan Allen. Thanks Jordan.

Dear Ben and whoever else edited this episode, A++ job piecing these conversations together in an organic way.
