Relistening to this and the discussion of Superman movie plots about real estate development reminds me that there is another superhero film using that device: the glorious sort of musical sort of Australian coproduction called The Return of Captain Invincible, starring Alan Arkin as the titular captain and Christopher Lee as his nemesis.

The theme park talk made me sad all over again that The Star Trek Experience in Vegas closed before I hit drinking age. Would have loved to get loaded and get a bite to eat at the Quark’s bar replica.

Another great Lloyd villain performance is THE LADY IN RED from 1979. A gangster picture written by John Sayles. Very politically aware. It’s a trip to see Lloyd in such a brutal role.

Would highly recommend Griff and anyone else searching for the great later career Lloyd performance watch I Am Not a Serial Killer. A very underrated genre picture from a few years ago that he's phenomenal in.
