Koyaanisqatsi
🕑 Added 2023-01-01 05:01:01 +0000 UTCBC:SF starts off 2023 with a "franchise" thats a drastic departure from the MCU origins of this feed. Its ofcourse the first entry in the Qatsi film trilogy: 1982's Koyaanisqatsi! Join Griffin, David, and Ben for this freewheeling commentary on Godfrey Reggio's experimental non-narrative tone poem film...and for the vibes. Topics include: the lasting influence of this work, the Philip Glass soundtrack, plane wipers, spaghetti junctions and more!

I watched this movie as the creators intended: on Tubi’s ad supported app, while listening to bc:sf, which i had to pause throughout because of Tubi’s ads. Awesome movie and episode!
Anthony Regina
Also this movie rules so much.

David calling Beebop and Rocksteady buffoons! 🤣

Love the ep and series idea but I have to nitpick and point out that Pruitt-Igoe is in St. Louis, not Chicago! There is a very good doc about it here: http://www.pruitt-igoe.com/index.html

Ben chiming in with “I have a similar experience but with my dad saying, ‘Fuck’ at every BMW n Mercedes he saw” made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes

Don Davis not coming back for Resurrections was that movie's biggest crime.

The shot toward the end of this movie where the rocket takes off and explodes is the most impressive camera work I have ever seen. It gets me every time. That rocket must be going 800 miles per hour and the debris is falling at least as fast and, miles and miles away, the camera operator follows that shit the ENTIRE time. It’s insane.
Rad Rodge
We do gotta get Don Davis some more big movies to score, for real, that is like my big takeaway from this in some ways haha
Kenny Madison
"The Ernest of arthouse movies." Thanks, team. Thank you for this.

This made my night! I didn't expect any BC content until next week. Thanks, Ben and Marie, for posting on a holiday. This is on Tubi for those looking for a free, annoying way to watch along. Have a great year, Blankies!
