Good games from this year that are very broadly similar to Pentiment: Citizen Sleeper, Norco, The Case of the Golden Idol. Very different but also good, especially if you want something that you can pick up, play for 15-30 minutes and feel like you got something out of it, is Neon White.

There's a weird moment where David seems to be quoting the lyrics to Werewolves of London, by Warren Zevon: "Yesterday, I got out of the 6 train in SoHo where my office is. It was raining. I open my umbrella, and just walked the streets of SoHo. What's better than this? Walking through the rain in Manhattan, with a nice brolly. Went up to Mei Li Wah, I got some fuckin' pork buns. It was good." Compare to Zevon's: "I saw werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand Walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fooks For to get a big dish of beef chow mein." Not to put too fine a point on it, is David a time travelling werewolf?

I had my daughter around the same time as David and I am also late-2000s Sesame Street-pilled and have always vociferously maintained (to my wife the only person who will (can’t not?) listen) that Abby is OP. Hearing David validate these feelings brought a tear to my eye.
