It’s BILL & TED vs. ELMORE LEONARD ADAPTATIONS.
With BILL & TED, we’d cover 3 films:
- Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)
- Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991)
- Bill & Ted Face The Music (2020)
For LEONARD, we’d cover his 4 famous 90s crime movies (yeah, we know “Be Cool” is from the 2000s, but it’s a direct sequel):
- Get Shorty (1995)
- Jackie Brown (1997)
- Out of Sight (1998)
- Be Cool (2005)
We will not be covering any of his myriad other adaptations…Leonard Westerns could be their own genre.

Leonard’s work is just downright better. I love Bill and Ted and their Excellent Adventure is so fun but I’m not crazy about Bogus Journey or Face the Music and the fact that you’d get out of sight, Jackie brown, and get shorty from the Leonard series makes it my winner. If you haven’t seen Out of Sight please do yourself a favor and check it out.
