I voted Police Story, but I don’t hate this result. The best series are when they have a lot to talk about, and they probably won’t even get through all the careers of the titular 11 during the 1st movie. So what if they’re all the same? So was almost every franchise in this bracket.

I am praying for Scream. Zany performances over many years. Each one (3 is… ok) a hoot. Versus smug smirking in movies that don’t really even do heists well. Oceans 11 had some charm. Oceans 13 had a better heist story, but less charm. Oceans 12 doesn’t exist. Oceans 8 (I know it’s not Soderbergh, but he did produce) truly does not exist. Matthew Lillard! Emma Roberts! Henry Winkler! Drew Barrymore! Parker Posey! Just to name a few!

I watched all the Police Story movies recently, pretty damn fun the whole through. Voted for Oceans though, as I want to hear them talk about Andy Garcia and how fucking hot he is. Starting the betting pool on how many times David screams in frustration about Oceans 11 (1960) lack of anything even remotely entertaining.

BUUUT I voted Police Story to show support for hong kong action/martial arts movies, Chan/Lee/Yen etc. should definitely be considered for commentaries at some point!

Voting Police Story is tacit approval of inept police behaviors, Copaganda, communist Chinese Police propaganda specifically, and fantastical world view of cops as the strict “good guys.” Ocean’s knows what it is, a fancy heist romp with an eclectic cast who got to hang out and shoot the shit. The behind the scenes stuff alone that the 3 boys can dig up to discuss is worth the vote.
