With PHILIP K. DICK, we’d narrow the field and cover 6 films:

- Paycheck (2003)
- A Scanner Darkly (2006)
- Next (2003)
- The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
- Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
We would not be covering MINORITY REPORT and TOTAL RECALL (1987) because we’ve already covered those on the main feed, and we’d be skipping the TOTAL RECALL remake and some other stinkers because, per David - “ugh, those might kill us”

Carpenter also won MM. From what I heard, they basically said they weren’t going to do Cronenberg unless he won a March Madness (that’s why I really wanted him to win). of all of these, I think Denis is particularly ripe for a series - one of the blank checkiest directors in the business right now (getting entrusted with 2, maybe 3 movies in the Dune franchise? that's a big ol check). One of the few Nolan-y filmmakers around who makes detailed, large scale films that also are critically if not commercially successful. Would be an easy choice IMO, especially after Dune Part 2 comes out. Also, if they do a Blade Runner 2049 episode, I could see them doing a Patreon ep on Blade Runner so that it isn't left hanging Now, Ridley has a deep filmography, but also is one of the most blank check directors ever and could easily be done Spielberg style, pre and post win for Gladiator which reignites the blank check he got for making Alien as his second movie (followed by Blade Runner cementing his influence). Linklater would be a fascinating series: the Before Trilogy and especially Boyhood make for fascinating check cashing exercises (yeah, we're gonna trust you to cash a little check over the course of 12 years and hope this works out well? insane!)

I still don’t understand this podcast’s fanbase’s aversion to horror. It’s mind blowing we somehow got a Carpenter mini, but anytime something (legitimately) horror related makes it up the ranks in a Patreon March Madness; this group makes it loud and proud to smoosh it like a bug. Horror films are a large piece of film history and as we’ve seen with the Scream franchise, are a great place to play around with blending of genres, providing social commentary on film, satire, and subverting expectations. Horror fans are the real ones.
