🕑 Added 2023-07-11 04:10:41 +0000 UTCWarning this version of the episode includes eating on mic
July’s bonus ep is a special one! Checkmates you finally get a glimpse into David’s master spreadsheet with all of his personal nominees for the Academy Awards in every category going back to the 1940’s. Using a random Oscar’s generator, Griffin and David jump throughout film history and discuss all their faves! Plus, Ben presents a roster of spreads to sample! Yum.

I'm sorry do they reference the Bollywood icon the great Tabu in this episode?...?
John Paul
Sir Lucious Left Foot…The Son of Chico Dusty is so underrated. Listened to that so much in highschool.
Josh Harvey
Crunch crunch!! Great ep!
sheabobay
Great ep! Chewing was fine!
Scott Carberry
Tabu is great!
Vegan Police
Listened to both, and appreciate the subtle differences in each cut. Id say both have their merit, and strongly recommend everyone listens to both.

I can see how 1936 stalled David’s spread. I can’t find a single movie rising above a gentleman’s 7 or 8 for me that year, much less enough to fill out a Five. Weirdly weak year.

I love David saying “some people add best ensemble which I think is kind of goofy” as if this entire exercise is complete normal
Zach Terrell
Calling for an ALL-SAVORY SPREAD episode. Pesto, tepenade, toum, whitefish salad, hummus, etc.... Don't get locked into sweet only

FOR SPREADMASTER EYES ONLY: Around Christmas time, World Market sells a jam advent calendar with 24 various travel sizes of jam. The wife bought one a few years ago and took us a full year to consume. Would be the perfect quantity for the next Spreadmaster symposium.

No, not really. Might be available in a few places, but it's definitely not a common PB brand for us.
Mike Monaco
This was delightful. More please
Jason Schumacher
Watch “Claudine”! It’s great! A Criterion disc worth owning. James Earl Jones is so hot in it.
Universal Single Payer
I get promoting the free bonus eoisodes on the main feed, but It feels silly to promote the older Bonus episodes coming free on the Bonus episodes since we're already patrons?
Carolyn
I love you boys ❤️
James Young
As a home jammaker, I can tell you that nothing makes us happier than hearing how the people who try our jam enjoy it and want more. Ben's dad should be very proud that the guys want more. I'll be making my maraschino cherry jam today (maraschino liqueur and fresh sweet cherries), and might just have to listen to this episode again while listening to it. Fantastic concept episode, I hope it's an annual tradition

I love when people who love films talk about films they love. Good Ep

100% uncut version all the way, this was a great episode, it's a great way to get exposure to older movies and thats ok in my book!

Became a patron explicitly because of this episode and it absolutely delivers. Thank you all for your service 🫡

“A movie that makes me fall asleep in a successful way” is a metric I think I love now

I did have a great time realizing “wait, they’ve walked right into the Edgar voice again” about 4 seconds before the fellas said so hahah
Matthew Comegys
Edgar works for the annoying listener voice. But PTR is still ahead a Chuck E. Cheese and Blu 32. Gotta catch up!

Is Kraft peanut butter not a thing in the US?
Sam A. Sipe
Also Peter Pan Smooth is the only choice.

can we see the grainy screenshot
Sam A. Sipe
14 minutes longer. that's a no brainer
Neil Anderson
I love this so much, I hope these dives into film history can be done again. Great format!

"Alice's Restaurant" is also a Thanksgiving tradition with my family! I believe 102.9 WMGK in Philly plays it at 8:00 AM, noon, and 4:00 PM, so we usually catch it while driving to the 5-Mile Turkey Trot race that some of us run every year
James Patrick Dalager
Oh man is this one of those situations where the Director Cut is actually worse but you still watch it for the novelty, or is it secretly a masterpiece of mouth sounds..
Fred
Would love to hear more about this Oops all Lunches they keep hinting at. seems like a strong episode idea.
Scott Dillon
please god give us a template version of it I don't even need the data
Matthew O'Reilly
We were promised a delight, and we received
Rad Rodge
You know it
Ben DeSart
Showing my support for eating on mic by listening to this one!
Kenny Pickett
I would very much be interested in more of these
Mrs. Long
I bet there is a ton of Ben lovers. If we think Ben is got it going on is there a group name like "Porch peoples" or something? I'll listen to the eating cut but I bet a lot of folks are glad for the Spread master cut ...that shit can drive some off a cliff
Joanna Patterson
I’ll be listening to the chompy version 🙌
Nicole Journal
You have correctly characterized both my nerdy desires and my surprisingly masculine voice. Thanks for seeing me friends.
ryan mcgrath
The spread master segments are the best part of the ep.
Joshua Ochoa
Damn David’s schedule. I needed this to be 4 hours🗣️✊☁️
Will Hoff
This episode is Rather Good.

I’ve never been so excited about a spreadsheet in my entire life
