Hey guys, you'll be glad to know that Cracked (or Mad?) Magazine did Planet of the Horses, and a bunch of other one-page treatments of different "Planet" spin-offs. Dogs, I remember... don't recall the others. In each case humans are of course in the reverse role. Google Planet of the Horses and you'll find it.

I know nothing of your podcast, I admit that. But you've got five Planet of the Apes commentary tracks, and I'm here for it!

Solid commentary! My last name is "Zeis" (rhymes with "ice") but I was exclusively referred to as "Dr. Zaius" in high school thanks to the Simpsons bit. Pretty sure my lacrosse coach thought my actual name was Zaius. The song still haunts me.

The modern template for actors like Heston is still Harrison Ford I think.

Hate to disagree with the boys, but Chernobyl tourism was a thing before the Russian invasion (albeit a heavily regulated form of tourism)- check out Kyle Hill on YouTube for one example.

Are the Austin Powers commentaries just not happening?

I think Paul Newman was the first person I remember seeing with a six pack in an “old timey movie.”

If there’s not one mention of Dana Gould’s legendary cosplay as Dr. Z or his YT talk show in this miniseries I will be upset

I was SO waiting for the Heston filmography dive to reveal that he played Long John Silver in the 1990 Treasure Island, directed by his son and also featuring a young Christian Bale. I don’t think it came up in the Treasure Planet episode either, but it’s my personal favorite Treasure Island adaptation, and Heston is so fun as the salty old sea dog.

A late period Heston role you forgot to mention that was actually covered on the pod: he does the narration at the very beginning of Hercules!

which podcast?

Speaking of Twilight Zone, the first act of this movie is nearly identical to an episode from season 1 called "I Shot an Arrow into the Air." Makes me wonder if Serling used that as a launchpad for this script.

Between this and We Hate Movies theme month, my Ape cup runneth over.

I forgot to ask when this series was initially announced but are there any plans to do a commentary for the production “Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want to Get Off!” (1996) starring the actor Troy McClure? (You might remember him from such other films as “The Boatjacking of Supership 79” or “Hydro: The Man with Hydraulic Arms”.) It’s not really a part of either the classic franchise or the reboots but it is a pretty beloved entry in the series!

Petition for Griffin to release the script for the Monkey World pilot.

Perfect. My other favorite podcast did this as part of their Ape-ril line up so this is serendipitous.
