Did anyone tell Ben that Netflix now has an American Gladiators “docuseries”

I won’t stand for this BMW Z8 slander! One of the most iconic cars they’ve ever made!!!

They say they can’t do the POKÉMON on PATREON, but they could just do the 3 or 4 theatrically released Poke flix.

Bond movies just always turn into “what will they do next?”. Even with my group of friends. IMO that conversation is so stale and old.
Tyler Duggan
Honestly? Same. It’s fun to hear them rail on some of it and praise the camp, but by this episode I felt very “we got it.” It’s okay, though, because I still adore hearing them try to cook up some sort of commentary when the films really get caught in the weeds. Again, why no covering of The Exorcist franchise? I heard them float every Pokémon movie, I don’t think there’s as many as Sims believes there is, but they can definitely break ‘em up. Maybe by gen? Get some IGN Nintendo Voice Chat folks to come on and join in. Or Steve, Hanna, & Greg from It’s Super Effective (PKMNCAST).

This might be an unpopular opinion but it sucks they went right back into bond. These movies are all just the same crap

David seems to know so much about London and the U.K. as a whole… why is that?
Rad Rodge
As much as Star Wars is still the single most prestigious franchise to me, they can never say “our premise both before and after this moment is we pretend there haven’t been other movies”
Rad Rodge
I do think this is an exciting part of the series relative to others—they can make the argument that they have a requirement to not go nostalgic, to not go postmodern, to have everything start with a stopwatch set to the exact moment they start rolling, their willingness to do that seems more and more distinctive and kinda courageous the more years go by

Nolan's 60s Bond idea would never happen. The Broccolis know it would run counter to everything the series is about. Good or bad, a Bond movie reflects its time, or tries to - that is the appeal. That is the one crucial quality that makes even the worst entries interesting to watch.

More like “This Movie is Too Long!”
Jessica Orange
Right? I doubted myself at first thinking it was real because I thought… no way I could know about this and they don’t! It’s pretty good! Goes into all the behind the scenes stuff!
Charlie Kessler
Lost it at Griffin’s blink and you miss it joke about Kevin Costner playing Feivel’s grandfather: “I’m playing Threevel”
Joe
why is griffin singing blessid union of souls so gd funny

Perfect Dark does rule.

Whoops! Thanks.
Rad Rodge
(I mean I realize that he didn’t invent the Talia character but I didn’t think you meant that haha, I know what you mean, it does closely parallel TKDR)
Rad Rodge
I had never considered this but I’m immediately tempted to think so
John Blood
Did Nolan rip off the twist in TDKR from this movie?

If she married Lloyd Christmas, her name could be Christmas Christmas.

david is a smart man. i believe him to be a good man. he is possibly my favorite film critic working today. david sims' english accent is bad.

There was a second deleted scene and he did throw a card at Bond (doesn’t make the first scene any better) https://youtu.be/84EvKbz5lYM?si=OiAnsvHMBK8YOf72

Fun fact: those helicopters with saw blades are how they trim the U.S./Canada border

Man, Matt Gourley talks so much shit about this opening sequence and he’s wrong haha, like I know his Brosnan disapproval is enduring and specific to him but this is where it just stands out to me as he is wrong, this opening rips. Glad that Ben and Griffin agree that it rips hahah
Rad Rodge
On this note actually, I felt like Ebon Moss-Bachrach hit an interestingly Costner-ish vibe on Andor, I thought it was so fun to use that aura for what was otherwise a very Michael Mann sort of character
Rad Rodge
I gotta look into this Costner-Ripken stuff but on the other hand, I do kinda love Blank Check being my source for all Costner data
Rhyann Yadao
Nia Long would have been my choice. Christmas Jones sounded like a blaxploitation name. And considering the nothingness we got from Richards. Nia would have given the character some attitude and sass like her in Boiler Room.

The problem I had with Renard. Is his look. He looked like he was suffering from cancer. Why would I want James Bond to beat up a cancer patient? Carlyle is way more menacing when he has mop top and a fully grown beard. Like in Ravenous.
Corey Caudill
Been on an Agatha Raisin run lately and want to dive into some Hamish McBeth soon.
Rad Rodge
I must begrudgingly agree, the Z8 is at least a good piece of design in a way that the generic-ass Z3 just is not
Rad Rodge
I honestly have found this mistake endearing because it’s the mistake of someone more informed than these movies are about actual British spycraft hahah, it’s mistaking the thing actually widely known in America for the much more obscure thing
Daniel S
If I may be pedantic, David claims that the early HQ bombing scene was shown happening to the "real GCHQ" but I must point out that what's shown is the real MI6 HQ. GCHQ is British signals intelligence (think NSA) and is headquartered in "The Doughnut" in Cheltenham
Will Pottorff
Someone tell Ben they have a pretty solid American Gladiators doc series on Netflix asap! It’s pretty good!
MoCoSwede
Thumbs down for the shade thrown on the BMW Z8! The Z8 was at the pinnacle of BMW’s product line at the time, and looked way better than the Z3 Bond drove in Goldeneye.

One of the funniest lines on 30 Rock: Denise Richards asserting that she "played a nuke-yular psychiatrist in a James Bong movie"

The podcast about the Cal Ripken/Kevin Costner urban legend is great! One of the greatest sports urban legends of our times!!!

In my retired ladies book club we read a Hamish Macbeth mystery by MC Beaton. To add context I found out there was a BBC series about the character played by Robert Carlysle. Then I read that the author MC Beaton said of the portrayal “It was like asking for Robert Redford and getting Danny Devito”

A pity we didn't get to hear Griffin's impression of Brosnan singing 'Nobody Does It Better!'
Joe Martin
I will be shocked if Ben doesn’t like Die Another Day. Also, someone like Rachel Weisz or Uma Thurman would’ve been good as Christmas. Really anyone would’ve been better, but the movie would’ve been much more even with someone like them. Or be bold and get someone a little closer to Brosnan’s age. Someone like Julianne Moore or copy The Thomas Crown Affair and get Rene Russo.

What will Griff think of this Dr. Jones?
