Also - you guys or your guest spend a good amount of time in this one talking about all these franchises that have one upped Bond. Except, Bond is still bigger than all of them, including MI. The thing with Bond is I kinda like em all, even though are some I like more than others for sure. I like or love all the Brosnans (DAD is not good but is fun in the right context). I hope Griffin watches the deleted scene where Ricky Jay did get to do some card tricks.

I like this movie more than Goldeneye. I think the set pieces are better and Yeoh, while under-used, is still miles better than all Bond girls. The problem with these commentaries is whatever framing they have at the beginning of the episode or first impression they have colors the rest of the movie. It just becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. My suggestion to fix this, and to fix them getting basic plot correct which is also a big problem, is that one guy needs to watch commentary movies ahead of time.

“Surrender” was written and meant to be the main title track for the film (it’s why it’s referenced in David Arnold’s awesome score) but was punted to the end credits for “reasons” in favor of Sheryl Crow. I’ll chip in $5 here or somewhere for David to do a solo (or with Marie) commentary track for this one.

I think Gourley is mistaken that those shots are face replacement, incidentally, I think those are just D Craig on green screen in front of a wind machine and I don’t think anyone should freak out so much about it, as a James Bonding listener I do think about this a lot

The discussion of cutting too much in the motorcycle chase is all good points by Griffin and is interesting to compare to the Skyfall motorcycle chase, which I do think is way better and partly because of the exact willingness to hold wider shots for longer that this movie didn’t have
