My partner LOVES the Highlander movies (at least the two she's seen) and this weekend I got us the third and fourth to watch and she asked about The Source, just in an, 'I thought there was a fifth?' sort of way. And I just was like no, The Source is truly unwatchable I've seen it once and I will never under any circumstances watch it again.

I’ve never seen any of the Highlanders, but the Jack Ryan films feel like diminishing returns, so Highlanders it is. Jamelle Bouie’s is covering the Ryan films from a political angle on his podcast, which is probably more interesting than the filmmaking angle (which is pretty ho-hum).

I can't tell if I want Jack Ryan because it's a segue into the weird oeuvre of Kenneth Branagh as a director (sometimes they clear, sometimes they sail into mediocrity baybee) or if I don't want it because Shadow Recruit was one of the cringiest films...voted for Highlander.

Highlander 1 is a very fun, action sci-fi with a really fun performance by Sean Connery. Highlander 2 is absolutely batshit crazy. If you like genre flicks Highlander is kind of a must see.
