Truly one of my greatest frustrations in this day and age is the fact that we haven't gotten a really good collector's edition release of this movie on blu ray (or even DVD). I always assume it's because this is a movie intended for kids, so the effort just isn't given to giving it a special release... But then there are plenty of kids movies that I can think of that have great special feature-laden releases; so that doesn't track. Please give us behind-the-scenes featurettes! Filmmaker commentary! Interviews with cast and crew! Please! Nickelodeon I know you're reading the comments on the paid bonus feed for a film podcast! C'mon!!

The best part of the turtles' weapons is the weapons reflect each turtles' least strong quality. Donny has a stick, as low tech as it gets. Mikey has nunchucks that require huge discipline. Raph has sai that are better for defense. Leo has katanas, which are better for aggression

To the question off the top as to "how did you get into it?" I think the detail that's overlooked is the fact that we used to have appointment television as children. Whether we knew which cartoon was coming on or not, there were certain windows of time in the afternoon when you could pretty reliably count on something animated to pop on the TV. I don't remember the first time I watched TMNT, but I remember the first time my parents asked me, "what are you watching?" and that was the answer, and we had to repeat it several times because they had no grasp of the sentence we had constructed. What's equally remarkable to me is the number of times the same property has been rebooted, remixed, revisited, and relaunched every so many years for a new generation of kids.
