lol for some reason I thought I was about to listen to them play the game Clue together. I was READY
hayley fix
IF I were going to cover Weekend at Bernieās and needed a third movie starring Andrew McCarthy it would definitely be MANNEQUIN
Charlotte Langdon
Iāve missed the rhombus.
Mrs. Long
My kids are 5 and 10 they loved the After life and frozen empire we watched both this weekend
Anne
Iām dying at how few times they have seen this! I watched it 100 times on VHS and used to act out all the endings running around the house
Ashley Richardson
Tim Curry has an uncanny resemblance to my father throughout their lives. Love Clue and everyoneās performances!!
AgeofWalnut
Seriously who on here is yelling at them for having tangents during the movie about Erewhon etc. There are actually people who actually care about what they talk about during the movie? Let them do what they want who gives a shit!
The Mad Jay Woman
Itās ironic because after we rented the movie on VHS it was an instant household fav, we constantly quoted the movie
James Young
Kind of want a patron plus episode of them covering the tape included with the Clue VCR game. I used to watch that constantly, but somehow only played the game twice
James Young
Same. I remember Lynnhaven Mall showing the 3 endings, labeled A, B, and C. Still couldn't get my parents to take me
Chauncey Telese
This used to play on Comedy Central ALL THE TIME
Rhyann Yadao
Iām intrigued by the upcoming Waterworld ep. Just wondering you guys only covering the āTheatrical Cutā or the far superior āUlysses Cutā?
Holly Catlin-Meyer
This is days late Iām sorry, but The Traitors is such a good and fun show, Season 3 should be interesting with all the Bravo cast members. If anyone likes Bravo stuff, my absolute favorite podcast is Watch What Crappens. Itās just silly and light, and the hosts are so talented. They have recapped each episode of The Traitors, amongst many other shows. āŗļø
Holly Catlin-Meyer
Yes, this fact was acknowledged at the beginning of the recording, before the episode started. āŗļø
Will Rogers
Yeah totally hear that. Iām not talking about getting something wrong though. Iād just rather a first experience be of someone actually watching. Not vaguely watching. The main feed is full of movies that were first watches for them. And itās fun when they discover something. This version of talking over it, in my opinion, means no discovery. But whatever, I hear thatās not what itās for, itās just a bummer for me when itās a movie I am excited for them to cover and wonāt be covered on main. I also recognize the recent Turtles was great for Ben on Mutant Mayhem, but that movie is about vibes and visuals. I donāt get it when itās a romantic comedy or a heightened language farce. Itās not fun to hear someone get caught up on something that is a misunderstanding because they didnāt hear something.
Mike Ostrov
They get stuff wrong in the main feed, too, so I don't think that's gonna solve your problem. Not speaking for everyone, but I think the expectation here is that it's a more casual experience, including things you wouldn't get in the main feed, like overhearing someone's first experience with a movie.

Noises Off. Bogdanovich made a movie version which is fun with a great cast, but by all accounts nowhere near as good as the real thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noises_Off
Will Rogers
I really think they should know these movies better before watching them as commentary. It doesnāt work as a listener if I know the movie well, they constantly miss things especially for dialogue heavy movies, any nuance is impossible to grab. I understand commentary for stuff they know, but otherwise maybe just watch it at home then come and talk about it. I think thatās what we like, informed criticism, not guessing criticism.
Ben Bailey
Whatās the ādoesnāt workā play noise thing theyāre talking about at some point near midway? I can not follow them. Bogdanovich associated with it somehow.
Matt
A friend of mine made one of their group of friends in high school which sounds like a real fun one
Matt
Just need to share that my wife has a prom photo on the staircase from the staircase murder.

Not sure when it started but I am really enjoying the coin catch sound effect when a comedy point is given. Good Work Ben!
Josh Mclane
Also thank fuck they dropped the missing board bit
Josh Mclane
Itās hilarious when they donāt have a dossier for a movie now.
Rad Rodge
I semi-regularly think about Jordan Hoffman saying āIāve got me lead pipeā in a cockney voice on, I think, the Beowulf episode, so I was hearing him say that in my head constantly this whole episode
Rad Rodge
It is so cool that she would share this info hahaha, thatās awesome to picture
Rad Rodge
Medium Messy might be the deepest cut ever included in Blank Check artwork hahaha, are there even more than 3 episodes where those words are spoken
Rad Rodge
Yeah this is just incredible stuff
Rad Rodge
I would specifically appreciate more Erewhon analysis, fascinating and gross to a non-LA-resident
Rad Rodge
It is a missed opportunity to have no Curry as a Bond villain, thatās a great call, we should be able to look back and say that Jonathan Pryce in Tomorrow Never Dies walked so Tim Curry could run
Rad Rodge
McKean, truly a platonic-ideal Blank Check king
The Mad Jay Woman
Re: the multiple endings in theatres - As one old enough to remember, in my area they did say in the paper which cinema had which ending, e.g. the Oaktown Lowes had ending 1 & 2 while the Elmwood Lowes only had ending 1 I canāt speak to the actual viewing experience though. I begged my parents to take me but they refused so I discovered this on VHS
Rhyann Yadao
I thought more could have been done with Curryās talents I think. Should of have been a James Bond villain. Definitely should have anchored a Horror Franchise. Like David said the man on screen is genuinely scary. Much like a Christopher Lee or Karloff. Sad it was only seen on TV.
Lodgepole Distilling ā Gins now at Seattle PCCs!
fyiāi think Miss Scarlet was asian-coded on the 90s box as a reference to Kedakai Turner (wife of Inside the Actors Studioās James Lipton) who was Miss Scarlet on the 70s Clue box
Rhyann Yadao
Martin Mull sadly did pass away recently. You guys must have recorded before it happened.

Weekend at Bernieās, Weekend at Bernieās II, and Swiss Army Man could make up a nice dead guy miniseries

Screaming with laughter at Dan Candyman

This movie is so totemic for me and my childhood, I canāt figure out if Iām gonna listen to this ep. Because honestly if they say anything even a little bit mean about it Iāll probably cry
bozothedeathmachine
I loved Life when I was kid, but haven't played it since I was maybe 12. I recently played it with my kids. As a 48-year-old dude, that game is depressing as hell. Props to my parents for playing it with me so often when it was probably soul-crushing for them.
Grant Ervin
THE CLUEEEEES
Katie Herrmann
My sister and I made a "Celebrity Guess Who?" game in the late 90s. We cut out two pictures of the same celebrity and scotch-taped them to the character cards on the boards. Questions about filmography encouraged, questions about personal life allowed.
Ryan
RHOMBUS my all time favorite
andy
Incredible ending bit
David Britain
Had no idea Mitch and Marie were childhood friends

Random McKean thing: last week I went a talk by Susan Rogers, Prince's recprding engineer/producer in the 80s and doctor of psychoacoustics, and she mentioned that when she first went on tour with Prince, the backing musicians gave her the following advice to get rid of the nightly earworm from the last song of the show, Purple Rain: listen to "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight" by Spinal Tap. It's so bad that it temporarily kills all the brain's desire for music.
Mike Ostrov
McKean talk spurred relisten to A Mighty Wind soundtrack. Total genius. They all should've won acting Oscars.
Ditmarser
I love a ballroom

Griffin giving a Curry-esque powerhouse performance

Tim Curry is an absolute tour de force he is at the end of this movie and it's a shame he never got the proper recognition for it
