I dont know if they knew what they had during the inception of the Borg, but they definitely knew what they had after they saw Q Who. It's the scariest Trek has ever been. They naturally get scaled back over time as we learn more, but this movie does a great job bringing it back to that. Also "He's older than he is tall" made me giggle for so damn long. Favorite line in the episode.

The Brutalist director was the star of Thunderbirds (2004)! This is blowing my mind

Peter Hyams is a great call. Damn. Alas for Jonny

I always felt like they were doing a Hellraiser thing with the Borg. Even down to the cube

Amazing to hear Griffin cite “Worf with a lute” as broad without the context of Worf smashing Geordi’s lute. Do we think this is savant shit or has he seen a meme ambiently?

There’s rarely been a more quintessentially Blank Check episode summary detail than “Cromwell drip”

Griffin is right... Crusher with her blonde version of The Rachel haircut is quite pretty

Calling him Jean-Luc CAN be a power move but happens more often in the show than I tend to remember, when she does it here she has the power of it being the only time anyone ever dared, it’s so great
Robert Forand
Word with a lute does play silly, He is not a Merry Man

Now that I think about it, I guess Spielberg movies actually do this several times in close proximity in the current miniseries, that’s interesting

No surprise, that's maybe my fav Williams score (I'm never gonna get into a debate about what's the BEST with Williams, but it's my fav)
Rad Rodge
Jurassic Park is actually another example of this, I would say, coming up soon haha

I just always have special affection for the specific subset of big sweeping classical blockbuster themes that actually are not either action-adjacent or love themes. They’re a less numerous part of the Big Willie Style/Goldsmith/Silvestri/Horner/etc. sort of zone, but it makes sense that a Star Trek movie would be one of the rare times that a blockbuster quintuples down on that type of theme

woooooooord. pretty excited #magiccarpetride

Maybe my favorite Trek movie score? It's got tough competition with Khan and Undiscovered Country but I love this score so much.

Alfre Woodard is so damn good in this it almost makes me wish she wasn’t in it so she could’ve been a Trek captain in later iterations.
Good
