I’m sure it won’t come as a huge surprise that I have an announcement to make. I’ll keep this brief because I know long, rambling posts can lose some of their weight.
I started Druids back in 2011. That’s over 13 years of near-constant content creation without much of a break—and the burnout has caught up with me. More importantly, I’ve realized I’m spending far more time in front of my computer than I am with my family, and that’s no longer something I’m okay with.
After talking with Shai, I’ve decided it’s time to pump the brakes. Here’s what’s changing:
All comic page updates will be paused.
Patreon tiers are being simplified to a single $5 USD tier.
I’ll continue to release one monthly illustration (with a vote), delivered in the same month, for the $5 tier.
My focus right now is on slowing down, helping Shai get his book out (pre-orders available here), and prioritizing my family, home, and myself. When my youngest starts kindergarten in September, I’ll reassess. I might explore merchandise (like pins) or shift toward issue-style comics—I haven’t decided yet, but I’m keeping my options open.
I know I’ve been inconsistent lately as burnout has worsened, and I appreciate your patience. I realize it’s tough to pause in the middle of a story—especially during that kind of scene. I might try to wrap it up, but only if I find spare time and inspiration. If I do, it’ll be shared with everyone in the $5 tier.
Finally, I just want to say thank you. Your kindness and understanding mean the world to me, especially during this challenging year. I’m truly grateful for your support.

Definitely family first! I help care for my 89 year old mother (well if we all took birthdays correctly it’s 90) and work full time. And at 65 (yes I’m a gray-muzzle) I totally understand the paws… pause for a recharge . Little ones are not little forever… enjoy that time!

Thanks for all those years with your stories delivered by pictures and bubbles. Now the other part of your family will need to pick up the slack to satiate our hunger. Rest and recuperate and hopefully one day, be seeing you with another old or new story. Good wind

Yes and Yes. On March 1st, all versions of the books will be out, paper back, hard cover, and audio book. Shai is trying to launch everything at one time. And yes, Chase is narrating =)

Will Scales of Fate: The Scarred Prince be sold as a hardcover book to? And will the Audible version be narrated by Chase Johnson again? He did a fantastic job with it.
