Ok, So Rems would get found because the detective would know about his background as an electrician (sick idea but think he'd go straight for the sockets), James' would get found if he decided to do one spin in each room with a metal detector (toot'paste would fly across the room!), I think Ellis' is decent maybe too obvious, but Fuhads is the best so far (although he had more time) but ideally think you need to hide it somewhere with metal, away from anything nichely associated to you. Sick question!

As a brother of a detective I think there’s a huge misconception from movie and tv show depiction just how good detectives really are, don’t get me wrong there are brilliant detectives out there but just like any field of work there are horrible ones too who reach rank from who they know and kissing the chiefs ass things of that nature and I know a few who wouldn’t find my hand if I slapped them with it lol

The detective probably isn’t going to find the paperclip in most cases because at a crime scene, there is given information that provides clues. Detectives use the powers of deduction & induction to solve crimes but with no data, that becomes less possible. Ultimately, their detective skills become useless and they’re maybe a slightly above average mind looking for a needle in a haystack. I’d glue it to the top or bottom of my front door. Assuming it doesn’t make an irregular noise or affect how the door opens, I think it’s likely any person would enter the home and begin their search elsewhere.
