Thanks for the great chapter

also, as an aside.. how did that smug explanation to rowan go? would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he gets queued in on little guardian's origin :p

i can only agree with the other commenters, these chapters are a welcome addition, and it helps ground Paradox in the towns society... I really really really love the fact that you take time to explore his social growth as well, and that you let his interactions with the humans evolve at its own pace. This way it feels a lot more natural and not jarring as it would be if he was able to communicate with the humans on day 1...

By the time there's actual 2-way communication, the children and maybe even his OG coreless might well be loyal enough to our favorite little snake. What I'm more worried about is how hell react when they start trying to convince him that the great core is funtionally dead.

My heart! This is so good! Definitely 100% on board with this direction. Not every chapter needs to be an action-fest, and seeing Paradox get closer to the coreless in a real way is great. It also gives me hope that we'll eventually get actual 2-way communication, and that when we do it wont be a complete disaster. This has all been great setup for the possibility of keeping things a civil even once Paradox figures out his coreless aren't as loyal to the great core as he thinks.

this little guardian feels like some purer version of dendar, the night serpet from D&D lore. known to feast on nightmares to grow in strength, she had at one point devoured the sun, and plans to eat the world when the endtimes come. this little guy though, he just stops at the 'eating nightmares' part, wholesome snake that he is.

Paradox is now inseparable from the humans, because they determine his ability to complete goals. Some detailed info from their view was needed and is appreciated.

To further comment on the author's concerns above, this is not at all boring. Not only are we seeing that the snake has a viable path to achieving his goals in the city (and let's face it, the snake started off as a bit of a comedic character), we're starting to understand how the humans think about him. And that's important, because it automatically creates several points is tension in the story - will Valera start to doubt him? Will she act on that doubt? What will happen to the council if they try to take a totem from the kids? Can paradox communicate with his followers now through his totems? If so, how will the city respond to their children worshiping a core? And many, many more.

I'm glad you're enjoying them! I get a little worried when writing more SoL/fluffy-type chapters, since it can be easy to push past relaxing/touching and push into boring or overwrought, but everyone has been really supportive with these last few chapters. I think they're a nice change of pace from the usual and a good way to look at the effects of everything that's been going on before everything starts up again.

Gosh darn if Paradox ain't the best little eater of nightmares to ever exist. 😍 Author I absolutely love what you're doing with these chapters, especially the double posting so we get so much more of our favourite little cutie! Keep up the great work <3
