when the painting is finished, do you oil the canvas to have all the right colors, shades, chroma, value, etc., or do you wait for it to dry and then apply a non-permanent varnish.

Awesome series! Quick(ish?) question: As a student, painting in color from one of the photos, do you think it would be better to: A. Try to match the colors I'm seeing in the photo - or - B. Work from a more conceptual model of color (ie a color model I create or one I take from another similar painting)

Perhaps, For sure the familiarity with the form and structure of the face in this light and pose is irreplaceable.
