Theres a scene in ATLA when Paku finds Aang teaching Katara waterbending where he steals water she is actively bending as well. Could be used to set precedent for stronger benders being able to overpower weaker ones similar to the Katara/Hama fight

There's a bit of lightning bending overanalyzing you maybe missed. In the chase @ 11:20, Mako twirls his fingers around and seemingly separates chi with a swoosh sound and everything.

I think from a writing perspective, an once of integrity would be helpful to being a likable character

I'd ask why she needs to follow the rules. Does the Avatar need to obey the law?

Tarlaq lost because he not only had to draw his last card, his ability to bloodbend, which is illegal, he also has to kidnap Korra. He definitely was not in a good situation

Also, Aang couldn't contact past Avatars on demand at the start of the show due to the writers not having invented that concept yet, not because he was lacking spiritually.

until tarlaq won the fight? causing her to lose it? that's like counting the s2 finale of Avatar a win for Aang because he totally would have won if Azula hadn't shot him with lightning.

Aang was 12 when he achieved complete mastery over the Avatar State and his past life connections, while Korra is 17 here and can't do either at all yet. Obviously it's different circumstances, but that's why it makes sense for Korra/Tenzin to view her spiritual abilities to be a failure compared to Aang. Our man set the bar too high

Sometimes I forget that Korra‘s writers kinda just forgot that a main character we’re supposed to root for has to have some moral fiber for them to be likable. There’s breaking the rules to show a rebellious spirit but Korra just disregards all rules so she can get what she wants, kinda like the villains.

That would interesting to figure out how to watch ATLA in real time in universe so it feels like you're checking in on their journey as it goes along over the course of however many months
Gene Kri
As OA has said many times, I get that LoK is supposed to be the edgier version of AtLA...but Korra was straight up about to ruthlessly unalive Tarlaq...would have been great for scarring viewers, lol

Considering the only time we ever see bamboo in Avatar is in the damn fire nation, and it's CALLED a fire ferret, it's completely bonkers nobody read that line and went "wait..."

go crazy go stupid

personally i think korra trying to straight up assassinate a politician is based

I don't think the Korra tarlaq fight should go in the Korra loss pile, Korra won that fight and completely overpowered him until tarlaq
