But most people didn’t care and understood that it would take a century to even really begin feeling an impact. I think OA is right in this front, especially when firebenders are literally free electricity with no downsides
Clayton
I think he means that people wouldn’t care about developing clean energy this early on. The effects of it on the environment hadn’t had extensive studying, and we had plenty of oil before we needed to worry about running out of it

Hot towels are indeed quite nice, you should try it out sometime.

Hey as a ex military person from a big military family my guess is the green two arrows is an actual military rank and the grey two arrows is a civilian military consultant like in the old days how priests, physicians, scientists, surgeons, and nurses were separate but with the army and the had the equivalent authority of certain types of officers but with no commission they words were directions not orders.

Thursdays are my day off so no pressure over here lol

You talk about real life examples of "clean energy" at about 8:20. If we're talking strictly renewable I think you'd have to count waterwheels which have been used since like B.C. times. In 1600 i think was the first windmill too Say a real life example of what Varrick is thinking though, fully clean and fully man makeable, and seemingly infinite, was probably when we first discovered solar cells sometime in the 1870s. And then of course there's nuclear energy that was theorized AND made ALL in the 1900s.

Can I comment on the clean energy thing ? That was a thing way before the 40s, but not in the modern “let’s reduce carbon” way but in the “let’s have energy that doesent belch out black smoke that swallows our land” way

"the 40s is too early to be thinking about clean energy" uh... nuclear energy? granted, we didn't actually start harvesting it for energy until the early 50s, but the science was being worked on in the 40s.

Regarding clean energy and the desire for it: there were studies that go as far back as 1908 about whether burning coal and other fuels would heat the planet.

You seem to forget Korra is a big simp for authority as long it's corrupt and wants her dead

"dunno why korra went flying this far over the rock going straight up" probably because she was more forward on the rock than back and so didn't get hit with the center of it. She kinda tripped forward in addition to getting hit with it
maskofthedragon
Too bad for Korra she forgets all the OP airbending moves in this boring fight, like the one Jinora and OPAL whip out to save her sorry ass
