The spirit guide tricking someone into change is a trope of classic anime like Ghibli movies, it's not a common trope in the west

After all of this whenever you finish this series, if you'd like to understand why the entire Avatar fandom loves Kyoshi so much then PLEASE read the Avatar Kyoshi and Avatar Yangchen books!! I'd LOVE to have a book club type series to engage with you and the rest of the community with. It'd be so cool :)

Honestly I think this season peaks the highest out of all 4

since its come up a couple times- with amon in the past and in this episode with toph's va- ive heard that when a voice actor is cast in an episode of a show, the amount the studio has to pay them scales with the amount of roles they play, but only if they play more than 2 roles. in other words, the studio would be paying toph's va the same amount whether or not they got her to play that extra minor role, so having a guest va voice two characters is a cost-cutting maneuver. once i learned that i started hearing it all over. u can often notice the vas for main characters voicing extras just because it saves time/money on casting. it happens a lot not just in korra but in most animated series!

The bit where Katara had that awkward wisdom line, I would’ve like it a lot better if she said something about letting it out and then letting it go to harken to Katara’s struggle in the northern raiders. Would’ve been a callback for us, the viewers, but would’ve also doubled as in universe and in character advice

It’s interesting that the writing in the show got much better but it still got taken off the channel. I remember having to watch new episodes on Nick.com

It's kind of sad to say this, but LoK season 4 is one of the best depictions of PTSD I've seen done in media. What it particularly does a good job of is portraying that feeling of "this will be what fixes me" followed by the crushing realization of no, this is just part of me now. Not enough shows are really willing to acknowledge the life-long nature of some illnesses. Hell, a lot of people reflexively argue with me when I talk about an actual thing I live with that way.

I will always love the use of twinkle toes and the call back to do. You think friendship can last more than a lifetime.

If you're willing to risk seven years of bad luck, your turn could be right now. :^)
