Since Destin's (smartereveryday) video on film photography I've been wanting to give film a go, and this project was the perfect excuse. And as I mention in the video, there is an ulterior motive to this project which is making diffractive optical elements. Though that'll be the subject of the next video. Hope you enjoy!

Longtime lurker, love your channel Justin. Your latest videos have motivated me to join your Patreon, I'm excited to see where you in particular are headed with optics which is an old pastime for me. A quick comment: with the 50mm lens system you're using on that Nikon, you will likely get sharper images with higher aperture/F-stop values. A better value is f/8, but iirc the theoretical best is f/11. The benefit of using higher apertures (though you'll need more light to keep your shutter speeds reasonable) is that you can leverage the hyperfocal setting on the lens - no need to manually adjust focus for a known imaging distance!
