Glad you seen the movie through early screenings and from what I’m hearing, it sounds a bit disappointing or at least inferior to the Captain Underpants movie. I definitely read many of the Captain Underpants books as a kid whenever we go to Barnes and Noble or other book stores, I would always try to get my hands on and read the books as I find both fun and silly as self aware superhero books for kids. I didn’t see the movie adaptation in 2017 until after it came out in theaters and got it on Blu-ray instead. I thought the movie was funny and stay true to the books that was made by Dav Pilkey. It one of the funnier DreamWorks movies I seen that I give kudos for staying to it source material. For Dog Man, I have not read the books and I didn’t get myself into the spinoff books upon grew out of the main books. I thought it could be fun or something from the looks of the trailers but since the critics and you have mixed feelings about this one, I might have to lower the expectations a bit more whenever I get a chance to see it after work. Sounds disappointing but maybe not a bad film as a January film release so it far the worst I heard or seen this month so far.

To say I'm on the same page here. (No Pun intended) I love the Captain Underpants books as much as you do and I even got the new Colored editions in my later years. Although I remembered what I said about DogMan in the Podcast. On their own they can be a fun read, but I can for certain that they don't have that "finesse" That Captain Underpants have and it seems like that actually carried on to the movie as well. Although I'm glad it's not terrible but I could've hope it was made better. In fact I just hope that this will regain DreamWorks interest to actually make more sequels. I mean there's 12 novels, you could of think they would've made more movies afterwards.

It’s nice you got an early screening of this, while I myself have heard about the Dog Man books I haven’t read them myself, but with the movie I can see how kids and fans of the books could enjoy, overall it might not be as good as the Captain Underpants Movie, but it can see how it can provide a decent enough time.

It’s a very understandable review, I’ll might even think I get more out of the Lego movies than Dog Man, but I could be wrong! I’m planning to see the film this Friday with my family, especially my little brother who’s a major Dog Man fan who read the books when he’s little so I’ll bet he’ll get a good kick out of the film! And I do agree that The Peanuts Movie deserves A LOT more credit for its’ unique animation style.
