Seemed pretty accurate to her character tbh. Her entire thing has always been about putting aside her emotions. It would have been powerful to have her break down but would it be accurate? She already confronted her emotions last episode

Just my theory, but I think subconsciously, he didn't want to hear Daisy sneaking up on him. He even says that he felt it was right for Daisy to hurt him one last time. As for Basira sneaking up on him, I think the statements are his weakness. That's why Martin is there, to protect him in sorts during these times. Martin has slapped him twice to snap him out of statements so I wasn't surprised that Basira was able to sneak up and listen. This, I fear, is also going to come back to bite (The Archivist) us eventually.

I love basira, she’s one of my top 3 faves, but i feel like her reactions in this episode were handled extremely poorly. Jon seemed more upset about what happened than basira did, i can’t really understand why. did she just not care or is she just bad at expressing emotions ?

Yes. I'm very concerned that he was able to be injured and did not heal right away. I feel like there is some foreshadowing there. Back in S4, he couldn't even cut off his finger without it repairing itself in seconds. I know he told Martin when they were in the 1st Desolation that there could be hurt but it would resolve after leaving, but I really thought he was only talking about Martin! The fact he seems surprised doesn't sit well.

Is anyone else concerned about Jon's powers hearing this? He didn't notice Basira arriving, didn't notice her leaving and didn't realise she could hurt him until she did, and he was actually properly hurt by her. I don't know, it might just be that he was emotionally distracted and overwhelmed by all the Everything, but it seems from previous stuff that it takes active effort to hold stuff BACK rather than the other way around... I am Concern

I've always found Basira's character incredibly interesting - her reasoning her way out of the unknowing is one of my favourite scenes. You can always practically hear her mind work... Loved this episode, especially Daisy's voice and the sound effects of carnage. You can really visualise the monstrosity she's become.

the only episode that has affected me as badly as this one is the one where Jon pulls Daisy out the buried. so that should tell you how im feeling right now. I knew it was going to end like this, and i feel a quiet sort of relief knowing that its finally over. its sorta like grieving for her because her self was already essentially dead, even if her body was still walking around. sigh. this was a sad one guys, thank you for the emotions.

Ohhhhh god, was Daisy only able to hurt Jon because he subconsciously expected her to??? MY FEELINGS......... in seriousness I love that despite all of Jon's inescapable trauma and fear of Daisy, he still loved her at the end of things, and he had no desire to see her hurting. He wanted to see her get better, he wanted it even knowing it was impossible, that. Fucking. Hurts. But it's very true to life so thx again for the soothing trauma ily guys :')

Oh boy. Well that was definitely worth the delay! I was genuinely worried Basira was going to join Daisy. I can definitely understand her wanting to be alone right now. And man I love Martin. And I second that I'm glad we had a nice martin bandaging Jon's wounds moment and him expressing grief. All in all just yeah. That was an episode.

ok can i just say, thank you for softening things a bit with that Martin Tenderly Bandages Jon's Wounds Hurt/Comfort ASMR. that was exactly what we all needed, and i love how it gave jon a moment to talk through some grief, which is really lovely and complex and real in coexistence with everything he expressed in the last ep. LOVE how we're lettin everything just Be, man. but yeah uhhhh wow!! the way the statement involved a deep morally ambiguous but heartwarming bond that really seemed to parallel daisy and basira's relationship... and then the reveal that we were hearing about daisy's VICTIM... that was some TASTY cruel irony. deeply sad of course, but hot diggity dog, such satisfying storytelling!! Sadisfying

Wow! That was worth the wait. One of the most powerful and well written statements yet and I love the nuance of the character interactions in this one. And the sound effects were soooo good! Just all the layering of different sound. Jon's complex interactions with Basira and Daisy were brilliantly done. Just an all around amazing episode that packed so much in without ever feeling rushed. Thanks guys!
