god forbid a female character is written to be unpleasant... I mean you have every right to your opinion, but female characters in fiction don't always have to be written to be likeable and pleasant. I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves Alice BECAUSE she's awful!

Sadly, this one had almost zero pull for me. The bright spot for me is I'm really enjoying Sam's autonomy and character development. The reveal of the movie felt trope-y and went off without any subversion of expectation. I was left yearning for another 5 ish minutes to add complexity to the movie viewing or exploring more of any of the workplace relationships. I'm also really hoping Alice's character develops beyond the workplace bully. Her verbal barbs, which are amusing in small doses, are now just leaving me angry and disdainful. Any delicious spooky vibes are being shattered by her shallow snide sarcasm. To be clear, this is not a comment on the voice acting, which is very good. I appreciate a slow burn (I still tout Magnus Archives as some of the best fiction writing I've consumed in the last 20 years) but Alice's character development can't happen soon enough for me.

Adored the goofy Beholding(?) avatar in this statement making a whole event out of eating this guy, even sulking when it seemed like he wasn't going to go for their delicious popcorn. Them running around staffing the entire theater by themself for a single guest had real Dracula energy.

What do you mean? It sounded like she's loaning her brother money, may not get paid back soon, and isn't bothered by it. She probably doesn't have much saved up if she needs to wait for payday for that, but I wouldn't call that hard up.

Additionally- With the exception of the woman and her husband Arthur in episode one, none of these people have been upset in the end. Even if they were unsure during the experience (the garden), they always seem some form of pleased (the painter), satisfied (the violinist), or complacent in the end (Red Canary, the voyeur). They each have gotten what they wanted, and enjoyed it, no matter how twisted or inflicted the feeling might be.

It is basically the theory that the Fears we are dealing with here are not the same as in TMA but rather Desires. In all of the statements so far the desire of the person has been the driving force: the desire to see a lost partner, the desire to change your looks, the desire to see this specific horror film. The people always talk about how much they want something. Of course we still have the whole fear aspect but there is another driving force behind it, the people are less passive. Not sure if the Fears got changed or were never the same to begin with in this universe, but I am looking forward to how this theme will develop in further episodes.

I’m kinda here for it. lol I’m guessing the previous IT manager is who Lena was threatening at the end of last episode? My guess is he’s the one who programmed FR3-D1, since it’s based in a German source code…. Why did he need to disappear, I wonder. And why did he come back? 🤔

i think the thing that's really getting to me with these cases is that the people involved are often unaware of their fate. i was really rooting for the blogger, hoping even one of the unusual aspects of the event would spook him, but ofc i knew deep down it was inevitable that he'd experience something awful. it makes sam's curiosity more relatable bc if i were in his position, i'd also wish i could do something about it! another excellent episode
