I am having the weirdest problem when trying to listen to this episode through the Overcast app specifically. The other episodes are fine, and this episode is fine here and on iTunes and in iPhone’s built-in Podcasts app, but on Overcast when I try to listen to or download this one, it says Not Authorized. Anyone know what could be up with that and how to fix it?

I just gotta say, I absolutely LOVE the sound design around the Archivist and their voice. It’s so bone-chillingly ethereal and inhuman, while also enthralling me completely! Amazing work on that! (Also, this is definitely one of my favorite episodes now, if not my new favorite! It’s just…so good!!! 😁)

I think it would be weird to kill him a few episodes *before* the finale (since it would force a further escalation beyond killing a protagonist to get to a suitably climactic finale). If I had to guess, Celia will have brought him inside and will be very evasive about what prompted her to do that. Also possible that he's going to spend the rest of the time up to the finale in a coma and trapped in some sort of statement hellscape with the finale being a 'We have to rescue Sam' plot.

"The visceral reaction I had at him saying 'diverse'" I was in the lunch room at work listening on headphones and *literally* made a noise out loud at that. One of those 'Did you *seriously* say that out loud?' moments for the character. "Nice to see nepotism, classism and bureaucracy is always the true horror of British society!" I really like the theming of this show so far! I read the original show as being more about the way ordinary people can start doing harm when stuck in systems that are bigger than them. I read this one as more about the way that people do harm when they decide they're willing to do whatever it takes to get to their goals. A lot of the statements are around that, but then the framing sequences feature it a lot too.

First Fully Compelled Statement 👀 The visit was exactly how I wanted it, seemingly benign but behind closed doors the power plays happen! The visceral reaction I had at him saying "diverse", that was a very loaded Daily Mail style wording from Vampire Hunter MP. He definitely gives off Tory vibes, although Manchester does tend to vote Labour.... Gwen, oh Gwen.....I really want you to be ok but you girl boss too close to the sun! Nice to see nepotism, classism and bureaucracy is always the true horror of British society! Alice continues to be my favourite character, she is so underestimated by the others, so when she was like "I was right" I wanted to cheer "Yes you were!" Sam, poor kid Sam. As a mum, I just wanted to hug kid Sam and tell him he was special just as he was ❤️

Brilliant episode. Given the (exciting!) choice of voice actor, I wonder if the Archivist is Lucia Wright from MAG 130 "Meat", and if so, how this version of her became the Archivist. Maybe she ended up working for the Institute? Maybe she's one of Sam's stern ladies? The original Lucia was from Gertrude's time, which would explain why she was locked up in the Institute's remains, has a tape recorder and is described by INK5OUL as a "manky old git." Also, if Sam and Gwen start having recurring nightmares with the Archivist, I'll be very pleased.

That doesn't necessarily refute anything, considering that you kinda.. have to inhale your words to get that sound (I've done it in dnd. it hurts.) and with something that's become as inhuman as Error/The Archivist, they don't really need the specific voice actor to get the point across. Because, even if this creature is a remnant of Archives Jon... how much of it really is him, anyway?
