I guess what I mean is that we'd all expect a fearless world to be a pretty good place. But Johnny and Alex expressed interest in exploring a world that just went through an apocalypse. I doubt they'd make a happy podcast about it. Judging by the end of TMA and the reports of people violently killing the Fear's Avatars, I think a fearless world is a bit darker than we think. So it's not a stretch to imagine that Celia doesn't want to live their anymore.

I don’t think that the fearless world is that bad. In S5 Celia mentions being trapped in a domain where her name and identity were stolen. That’s alluded to in this episode as well. When she says she has nothing in the old world, I think that’s what she means? She literally reconstructed a whole new identity in the protocol universe, she has a kid, but back home she’s /literally/ nobody.

I’m not sure she was in the carousel domain, specifically, but it was established in TMA that Georgie and Melanie rescued her from a domain that had stripped away the memory of her name and most of her life. She chose the name Celia after being rescued.

That's a possibility but she does say that she doesn't have life in the TMA world anymore. Also she seems to know more about the institute in TMP than she does in TMA. Also, John and Alex did say they're interested in exploring a post-Fear world. I think next season we're going to find out why a fearless world is bad and ultimately why Celia left it. The Archivist and Sam couldn't have fallen into a paradise, ya know?

So I read the transcript, and what she does say is that things like alchemy (which has been very weird and apparently /works/ in the MAP universe?) are the same because they're about the universe seeking balance. I don't know if the individual symbol systems (planets, elements, etc) are meant to be signifiers of anything. Hard to say though!

And I've got a strong feeling it's Jon. But also...how bad did the world get without the Fears that Celia would want to run away from a different dimension? My mind is breaking with theories

I love the S1 finale parallel between Celia and the Not!Them -- they both get rid of/kill a member of the team and are embraced by the other team members who don't know what they did -- especially since Celia lost her identity in the Stranger's domain and kinda stole a new one (like the Not!Them). It's a nifty "you became the monster that hurt you" kinda moment

i was a little disappointed before i listened, but i think the actual number of minutes matters a whole lot less than how the finale was actually written. it seems silly to try to stretch it out and possibly decrease the quality just for the sake of having those extra couple minutes. (plus what someone else said that episodes are 17-25 min so 34 is double) (not mad, just sharing my opinion :))

i think the glitches have to do with intentional lying, but that doesn't mean celia actually knows what happened. also, i have a side theory that the voices in the computer may stop now that the archivist is gone, which might also mean no glitches (not super invested in this theory, but i'm flagging it as a possibility)

Goodbye, Alice" was like a knife to the gut and even after Teddy's voice went flat EXACTLY LIKE THAT barely an hour ago she's STILL just going after Sam!! It makes sense for her character but girl listen to the alarm bells your friends are clanging right in your ears please god!! (Edited to add: this episode is INCREDIBLE on all fronts, masterclass, I just latched onto Colin in EP1 and never let go of him and I just want him to be okay even though I know he won't be!!!)

Man though. If the balance is disrupted and the original Archives-verse “wants” Celia back then does it also “want” its fears back? Does it also want JMJ back? Does Celia even know what she’s talking about at all or is she just scrambling to make sense of it all? Given her cult participation and that she believes her old universe is still trapped in the Fearpocalypse I’m inclined to think the latter… but I doubt the writing team would use up valuable finale airtime on her monologue if she weren’t on to something. God, I’m so excited for the next season.

Four elements, seven planets? I’ll have to get my conspiracy board ready. I remember silver came up a few times… that’s the moon, right? Assuming we’re dealing with old timey alchemical celestial objects and not “real” planets… hm hm. Maybe the planets/elements can be matched up with some of the influences mentioned in the Millennium Dome letter?
