Conventional Wisdom: Tiger & Bunny 3
🕑 Added 2015-10-26 06:34:13 +0000 UTC I know, I know, pretty much every anime ever that's ever shows the Moon in a scene depicts it as always full and waaaaaaay too close. Like, all of 'em. Off the top of my head, the only anime I can think of that regularly kept the moon at a reasonable distance was Soul Eater... and that's the show where the Moon has teeth & a giant nose. But the combination of size AND color AND how it just kept happening over and over made Tiger & Bunny an especially obvious offender to me. What, does Lunatic just carry a giant Moon hologram around with him all the time?...actually, that wouldn't be too far fetched for this show.

It's funny, because I kind of got the vibe that the show itself didn't know how to handle him. There not really any way for Lunatic to interact with the heroes as anything other than the bad guy, yet between the final episodes & what little they gave him to do in the 2nd movie, it's clear they WANT him to be one of the good guys. Maybe they couldn't figure out how to resolve his plot without pushing him too far into "villain" territory, so they just didn't try?

This thing really doesn't like letting you reply to replies so I have to reply to myself. Well then. Yeah, I'm bummed out they kept him more as a side character aside from that one day glimpse we got into his life. The two animated movies included him but once again you only got brief looks at him, in The Rising he wasn't even included for more than ten minutes and that was at the very end. Maybe in the live action Hollywood movie they announced we'll get better luck since I doubt we'll get a season two any time soon, which is a shame because there's potential for an entire grand reveal plot for him.

Man, I would have liked to see that! For all the build up they gave Lunatic, I didn't really feel like they did all that much with the character.
I've started to believe that Lunatic has two NEXT powers. Super awesome green/blue flames and the ability to conjure his own dramatic background moon to eclipse the regular moon. Also something amusing I just recently discovered, in the manga the news is discussing Lunatic and whether people agree with what he does and for a professional opinion.. they interviewed Yuri.
