The Turtle Library #15: Early Edition
🕑 Added 2018-01-10 22:40:41 +0000 UTC It always amazes me how difficult it can feel to sit down and draw some days, all of the tricks i find myself going through to get myself into a drawing mode. Maybe I've said this here before, but it reminds me of my experience with Tae-kwon do class growing up. The idea of going to class was rarely ever appealing, but once I forced myself through the process of getting there, it was always a great time.The more experiences I have in life, the more I have the intellectual knowledge of the likely outcome of whatever action, yet there always seems to be this discrepancy between what I FEEL like doing, and what I KNOW that I would like doing , if only I had the faith in my own mind to do it. What's with that, huh?
Some small notes of interest on today's process stuff:
If you look real close at the first panel, you can see the blue lines for a drawing of cricket that is exactly the same as the inked one, except it is rotated counter-clockwise and lower down on the page. This is because I was struggling to capture the weightless feeling of my initial thumbnails, and ended up tracing the first drawing (the one in blue), then putting it under the page on my light table and re-tracing it in ink.
I probably shouldn't point this out, but in the second panel cricket's head is a bit too small, but it's a bit less too small in the final colored page due to some minor photoshop stretching :0)

Haha, ya, I've been feeling that way about this coming vacation as well, though as it gets closer (and with you guys already being there) I'm starting to get more used to the idea, and consequently more excited! Maybe I'm learning to trust myself a tiny bit more ;0)
I love how you express your thoughts regarding getting started with your drawing. I even felt that way about coming on vacation this time around.
