It’s honestly very disappointing hearing that several of y’all didn’t vote. It’s literally something you only have to do once every four years. And the excuse about not understanding the electoral college really isn’t sufficient. These are things you can Google and there’s so many resources explaining how the system works. Candidates can easily lose a state by a few thousand votes. Your votes impacts whether or not the candidate wins the state that you vote in. This is literally a right that our ancestors had to fight for years to get and to not even execute your civic right is really disappointing. Also, why is it that I only hear Black and minority communities saying that their vote doesn’t matter or that the system is rigged? You NEVER hear White people say this. In fact, White people want you to believe this narrative because it allows them to win the majority vote when you sit out. It really saddens me to hear that as young Black men y’all sat out on this, regardless of who you would’ve voted for. Voting is a way for you to advocate for yourself because trust and believe White communities are not thinking about you and your interests when they’re voting.

The electoral college is made up of states state representatives and congress members. So 2 from the senate + the remaining the house reps (depending on state size) Our electoral votes SHOULD reflect the popular votes but our elected officials vote their personal interests. So in short, your vote doesn’t matter if your elected officials don’t follow your lead.
