yes the whole point of the Roth IRA is that the money you put in gets invested. Your company will usually offer some solutions on how you want to manage those investments...there are usually some simple options where you put your money in and then let it do it's thing, or you can more actively manage the investments yourself.

Just putting money into it doesn't mean you own stock. You've just funded the account, but the cash goes into a short term money market account, until you actually purchase stock.

100%. Amazon was the last stock that I needed to get in my portfolio. I just bought a full share a week ago. Now I can have lazer focus on my core stocks. Pardon me for not listing Amazon in my original comment. I should know better lol
