🕑 Added 2021-07-30 06:54:54 +0000 UTCHey guys! I KNOW I KNOW, THIS MOVIE DIDN'T WIN A POLL BUUUUT... its come up as runner up in several polls, losing only by a couple votes and I figured I'd spare all the frustration and just surprise everyone with it!
I've been wanting to watch No Country For Old Men for the longest time and holy.. it did NOT disappoint. It was wild from start to finish, the pacing, acting, scenery/settings, psychological triggers and implications were phenomenal. I felt that not much had to be said throughout the movie and that it was led by the acting and directing entirely. I loved this movie (ALTHOUGH IT MADE ME SO ANXIOUS I WANTED TO CRY, another reason I tried making so many jokes so I could laugh at the tense parts as you'll be able to tell lol) but it kept me at the edge of my seat and had such a deep meaning to it, I adored it. I hope you guys love it just as much and let me know what you think!! Thank you so much everyone!!!!!❤
P.S. Lord of the Rings: Two Towers is coming next week ;)

I'm loving these surprises.
I watched through all of the Coen brothers’ movies a few years back. It’s really fascinating to see how different themes and styles carry through (or don’t, in some cases). It would be interesting to see you compare it to others like Fargo or Miller’s Crossing, or their first movie, Blood Simple.

Definitely a film that you revisit and get a bit more from it each time. I know as I've gotten older, this film is better and better. For me the film (not sure about the book) is that sense of the world widening as you age. Thus making your view on the world shift back into the "old times". But the reality, this world has always been a rough place, it's only when you see more of it does that become more and more apparent and yourself becoming "tired" from it. Case in point, the story of Ed and his father's money minutes after the kids and the car accident. Side note, "looking too much into it" is not a bad thing when it's Coen brothers and Cormac McCarthy together! lol

You mentioned a few times how much you loved the cinematography, it's kind of a trademark of Coen brother films. You should toss "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" on Netflix. It's a Coen Bro movie in 4 or 5 separate segments that are so artistic in the cinematography.
